Michael Stoddard, 80, left Meridian on Friday, Nov. 1, to go hunting in the Landmark/Warm Lake areas and was due to return on Sunday, Nov. 3.

I hope he is found soon. I checked the Landmark/Big Creek Summit SNOTEL site and conditions are less than ideal.

Big Creek Summit got hammered the last four days. Over a foot of snow there and still coming down. I hope he has not hiked in.

I sure hope this turns out okay. But, really an 80 year old heading out by himself. There are just to many things that can happen. Hoping for the best.

The proverbial needle in the haystack. There is an enormous amount of country in there. It would be hard to search it in the best of conditions. Hopefully he's down on the Southfork and not at the top.

He’s yet another good example of why everyone should learn how to stay out overnight with only what’s in your day pack. It’s such a basic common sense life saver, but many guys who spend a lot of time outdoors, talk about how it wouldn’t be a big deal, but have never done it. It’s like not learning to swim, but you understand how to do it so if you had to it wouldn’t be a big deal. Lol
