Come help Washington State Mountain Goats! The Washington Chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers with help from the Rocky Mountain Goat Alliance are conducting two community science Mountain Goat counts this summer. Backpack into the wilderness and find mountain goats to help provide critical data on mountain goat locations and herd composition.

Waiting for word from a buddy if he wants to come. I’ll be signing up for one.

Edit for a few questions. Is there anywhere to view the routes before signing up? Rough mileage and elevation per day expected?

The Blazed and Kachess ridges is new this year so I don't have the routes ready to view yet. Lake Chelan is almost ready but I can send a spreadsheet of the routes. In general, the Blazed and Kachess ridges routes are easier from 8-15 miles roundtrip and easy terrain. Lake Chelan has some easier routes but most are either long, steep, or both. So I suggest those who have backpacked before to do lake Chelan and either new backpackers or less experienced to do Blazed/Kachess.

Thanks! I booked a couple spots for blazed and Kachess. May decide to do the Chelan as well.
