Minox ZP5 5-25x56 MR4

I figured the lower price was for the standard reticle and we were paying a little extra for the less popular reticle for economy of scale.

It's still a great discount.

The product was always overpriced though, because hardly anyone wanted one at $3600 and now, we are all pushing each other out of the way to get one coming. I don't really see it as a 50% off deal, more of a market correction.

I don’t know. When the ZP5’s were new, they were “THE” alpha scope in PRS with nearly everyone claiming they had glass as good as any scope made. Dudes on SH were falling all over themselves for a year or two for them. Then a couple of well known guys went to another scope brand- and magically the ZP5’s weren’t “quite as good”.

FWIW- I have or have had S&B’s, Swaro X5’s, March, TT’s and ZCO’s…. the ZP5 I have, and one other that I have seen are the most pleasing to look through/the most optically impressive scope I have looked through. Everyone that has done the same side by side has came to the same conclusion that I have seen. They are the only $3,000 plus scope I have paid for, that after using it, I said: “yep, that was worth it”.

That's cool feedback.

I'm looking forward to shooting it in low light if it gets here before the end of our deer season on 1/1. May be tight.

And playing around with the 6 Creedmoor and the reticle since it was set up for 6XC.

It will get you in trouble with shooting hours.

I think some people, maybe most, will initially be like “WTF” with the reticle. But, if you stay with it and understand it… it works really well.

It just seems so large and heavy, but maybe I’m missing the point. The THLR reticle in a 3-9x42 or 3-15x42 form factor is what I wish was going on here.

Called and asked a few questions… $1,999.99 price point now. 30-60 day lead. At the $1,599 price point i half thought of buying 2. 1 in THLR to try and 1 in the MR4 that would be more familiar.

I think the think the market demand for them was hurt by:
  1. Not a big name in the US (or any?) market with below market expectations for warranty service
  2. Some issues noted with parallax and elevation turret alignment on early runs.
  3. Hype and support around TT and Zco as well as more reticle options tracking what some shooters were asking for
  4. Resale was not great with $3200 purchase price
  5. Doesn't have some slick tool less zero stop/zero adjustment
    1. Doesn't have giant hi vis writeable elevation knob and 10mil turrets making everything as easy to see as some of the new gamer scopes
Still, they reportedly outperform all of the $2-3K scopes (razor g3, ATACR, Mk5, Kahles, etc) by a fair margin optically so for under $2k it seems like a hell of a buy to me vs needing to pay $4k+ for TT/ZCo to be in the same optical class.

Although it may be worth the current price point, it's a no-go for me. I've been a repeat customer of Euro but never understood the random price jumps of sale items (i.e. S&B Klassik 3-12X42 P3L). From a consumer perspective, it seems like if a product jumps in sales due to a lower price, a price increase comes along with it.

Looks like they updated it again in this post to $1999 while the snipershide thread still says 50% off.

Shame. I paid down payment yesterday when this post was still showing $1599 and I didn't catch that the price charged was based on $1699 instead. Still a buyer at $1699 but not thrilled with how this progressed.
You are still locked in at 1699
these grabbed a lot of velocity very quickly, much more than we expected - we already presold a lot of the coming inventory.
I have been in the mountains all day with little to no service hot on a bear, otherwise i would have spoken on this earlier in the day when my manager texted me and told me to up the pricing to 1999 on my rokslide listing
I have 17 unopened PM's right now, anybody in those messages with requests for quotes before 9:25 PM EST on 11.21.25 - I will honor the old price. No reason for you to lose out on a deal because i took a day off.

Since Jake posted the old price I'll confirm that I believe I was the first person (or at least among the first) to order a THLR version from this particular sale and the price was $1,699 when I paid. So the THLR reticle from the start was $100 more than the MR4.

we bought like 25 MR4's, got a great deal and sold them all within an hour - called blaser usa to see if we could get more, secured more but at a slightly higher price. Got a bunch of other scopes and skus as well. Pricing got upped initially to 1699.99
I do not have the full story on WHY the price increase, but ill take whatever flak comes my way for honoring the 1699 price for anybody who messaged or emailed me already.

My apologies

Jake

Thanks Jake. Do you have a limit on inventory, or a time limit, on the THLR at $1999? There's likely a few others here who would be tempted, but may need to gather the scratch ...

Picking up on just this one issue - for anyone else (like me) who's of a certain age where reading turrets is becoming harder, there are a couple of turret magnifiers on the market.

MKM does one that clamps the the scope tube - I haven't used it, and remember there being some controversy about his products years ago, which led me to source things from others back then. Not sure if that's died down or not, as he seems to be more prolific and recommended these days.

There's also a guy on the Hide who makes a much more robust and tidy option, which is a replacement ring cap that has the magnifier built-in. From memory, these only fit Seekins rings, and I think Form and others have reported some issues with those rings. There's also the added issue about whether the replacement cap is of such perfect tolerances that the scope won't shift - I don't have enough experience / haven't tested it to say for sure. If any wants to check out this option, you can likely find it on the Hide, along with pics.

Thread for those is here - but people are posting that he hasn't logged into the Hide for a few months ... possibly not surprising given their change to a paid model: https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/threads/knob-turret-magnifier.7136255/

There's also this one from IDTS, who Jacob Bynum recommends for dryfire systems, so one would hope that this product is good as well: https://idts-dryfire.com/product/cyclops-turret-magnifier/
