I'm looking to replace my Benchmade Mini Bug Out that I lost this year. Do you have any suggestions for a better/or cheaper folder? I like the design of the mini and the drop-point blade, but $170 is getting a little steep.

A full size bug out?

I hate the mini.

Its not cheaper, but better in my opinion.

My wife carries the mini, but its too small for me.

In my opinion benchmade hit a slam dunk with the bug out.

Maybe I got them a while ago, but thought I was like $120 in them.

Only a little cheaper but the vosteed mini psyop is nice and similarly sized. I used one to process most of an elk this year just to try it. Wouldn't recommend it because they're harder to clean but it's a good knife.

I had a mini bugout as well and loved it. Had it for a number of years. Due to its lightweight and compactness I carried it everywhere. Unfortunately I lost it close to a year ago. I also couldn’t stomach paying $170 to replace it and have realized that I’d likely lose its replacement at any given time. So I went cheap.

As much as i didn’t want to carry a Chinese knife around, i ended up getting the Walmart Ozark Trail knockoff. The action is just as good as the Benchmade IMO, but it’s bigger and heavier than the mini bugout and due to this I don’t always have it in my pocket.

I wish Buck’s new Range series which uses a similar lock was a little smaller, lighter, and less expensive. Currently they only have the higher end steels. If they ever use the 420HC steel and bring the price down I’d likely get it. I’d probably pay $75 for a USA made axis lock EDC.

That orange Walmart knockoff really is a great knife. You will just have to sharpen it more often obviously, but it holds a great edge. I wish I Hadn't lost mine. I'll grab another if I can remember next time I'm at Walmart. I refuse to spend good money on a knife anymore due to losing them all the time.

Kershaw Bel Air in Magnacut, awesome knife for the price.
I can vouch for this. I just picked one up a few weeks back after going back and forth on what new Benchmade I wanted to get. Zero regrets....really nice EDC for me. If I lost it tomorrow I'd replace it with the same.

Try this for $30. It replaced my Bug Out as my edc. Not necessarily better but a very good knife for the price.
Small world, but I have that exact knife. I leave it at the barn and use it daily, and it’s great for the price. I like D2

I carry the auto immunity with M4 for my edc and love it, but the knife you posted is pretty solid, I just don’t like big EDC knives. I had the auto adamas last year and hated it, and finally lost it

Little knives with good clips are the only ones that don’t get ripped out of my pocket for some reason, and I like that I don’t notice it unless I need it. The little pull cord on the auto immunity is clever too, I would have never thought of that but it’s slick

Hogue Deka or Kershaw Bel Air are the two main competitors. I’ve been trying to talk myself into a spyderco lately but can’t seem to find one that fits my preferences very well.
