It's still super smooth. I didn't get a good baseline weight on it and also cut a couple inches off the barrel.

@Dioni A looks good, just out of curiosity did you do that for aesthetics primarily? Who’d you have do the work?
Yeah I thought it looked cool and figured it would save a few ounces anyway. I was mostly interested in getting the barrel chopped and threaded but my buddy who was doing it figured he could do the action work also.

Just went through and weighed everything. Once I get my new bolt and shroud and counting the barrel chop I figure it'll be around 6 oz lighter than it was factory. Three of that coming from the action milling. If I went a little more aggressive could have gotten 4 oz out of the action.

Here’s an update. I got my barrel today so I did a mock up to see how it looks and what the total weight will be. I did weigh the barrel separately first and was shocked the 18” bull barrel was only 38oz. I’m a big fan of how it looks too. It’ll look even better once it’s cerekoted. Total weight with loaded mag and suppressed is 9lbs 5oz. I’ll take it!

Is that an NX8 with the Sportsmatch highs?

Yessir. The mediums are just a touch too low with a carbon barrel. Unknown Munitions mediums should work as well
I'm running the NXS 2.5-10X42. Wondering how far back the scope can sit with the low UM/medium Sportsmatch. I like my scopes pretty far back for eye relief. Think you'll be able to mount the scope far back enough with the rail being cut flush and not sticking out over the bolt?

with the way I had mine milled out, I wasn’t able to use my nxs 2.5-10. Couldn’t set it back far enough. I had to go to my swfa 3-9 and now I have an nx8 4-32 on it.

I was planning on running that nxs as well, but thinking of getting the scope first and set it up on the rifle, then mark where I’ll have the material removed on the action. What you just mentioned was my concern so I’m glad you were the one to find out first haha

I did that with the new UM rings. I eventually decided that I really couldn't mill off enough to make it worthwhile.

Do you have any photos of the UM rings with NXS 2.5-10X42 on the action? I am leaning towards that combo and wondering how the fit is.
