Two questions:
Why so happy?

What did you get for it?

I’ll be listing mine next month. She needs a detailing.

Got $11,300 4 door short bed auto. I was so happy because it sat in the driveway barely got used, when it did it was like steering a boat yet felt like a Red wagon down a gravel road. Didn’t have to shovel snow around it anymore. Was just a moment of happiness, with no regret.

189,000 on an 01 F350. Bought it 4 or 5 years ago at 98,000. It’s been a great truck and plenty reliable, though I have spent quite a bit on it.

Sold a 94 IDI a couple years ago. That thing was a dog, but should have never sold it.

We had one '99 F-350 go just under 395,000. I thought it would be cool to hit 500k, but it needed some motor work that just wasn't worth doing and it was becoming pretty un-reliable. Replaced a few transmissions and other things on the truck, but not motor related.

So how many miles have you guy’s got out of original fuel injectors? I know they’re supposed to be 200k mile injectors and that’s proved absolutely true on a couple trucks but my 1997 has 260k on em no noticeable issues wondering if I should do injectors as PM because I take that truck for hunting trips

This was on our '99 F350 work truck. As I recall this was in 2019 and the injectors needed to be replaced and it was becoming an unreliable truck (and looked like crap).

I have a 2002 with 270000 miles on it. I've had it for 9.5 years now and no major issues. I know the transmission is living on borrowed time at this point though.

It's an automatic unfortunately
Bummer dude!

There is a place in OKC, Blumenthal's.
They rebuild standard trans and Cummins diesels. They've rebuilt a 5 spd std for me.
Popped it back in and it shifted like it was new!

If my Cummins gives up the ghost, Blumenthal's can rebuild it, like new, for far less than a new truck.

I have a similar outlook at this point. It will cost a bit to keep this thing going but not nearly as much as buying a new truck. I plan to keep this one as long as possible.

Had mine for about 12 years now. 239,000 miles, but it just got a new engine in it. Old engine cracked a cylinder. Used to have really big injectors and a big turbo on it. Now it's a little more tame with a little smaller injectors and turbo (still bigger than stock). Runs really well and I don't see ever getting rid of it.

Has a 2005 axles on it. Rides and handles much better along with other cosmetic upgrades like 05 front end, 08 mirrors, and 08 tailgate.

As far as you guys looking for automatic transmissions, BTS was the standard for 4R100 transmissions for years. I've had one in my truck for several years. Warren Diesel also makes a good one. We've put a few in some trucks that come through our shop.

I had a late 90/early 00 f250 that I bought with 120k. Sold it with 198k to my friends dad that is still driving it. Kick myself for selling it but of course had a bunch of problems prior to selling and then zero after I sold it.

Wouldn’t trade it for my current 6.7 though…

Not a Ford or a Diesel but wanted to talk up my 2003 Chevy Tahoe. 353,000 miles and still going strong. No engine or transmission work. Runs great and shifts solid. Just came back from a trip out west for Antelope. Arkansas to Wyoming and then a loop through Yellowstone.

I often wonder the same thing. I've taken my 2001 with ~255k miles to different shops to get it scanned and opinions, and they all have said they can't find anything wrong from what the computer is telling them. But this engine hasn't been 100% right for a few years now, it smokes white like a train at startup in the cold and then eventually mellows out as it warms, and the exhaust always smells really rich regardless of the temps. It also used to get 22mpg on the highway......now 16-18 depending on the fuel. It has the 6-speed manual (y), which I absolutely LOVE.
