This. I had one of these and it was hands down the best optic I've ever looked through. Reticle was a little thin, and the turret clicks were pretty close together, but I remember one night shooting 6" steel targets at 350 yards by moonlight. Made a razor gen2 feel like looking through a dirty whiskey bottle. Not that you need that for hunting, but safe to say there's no (legal) low light situation you can't overcome.

Form factor was right on for a hunting gun too, better than the 56mm behemoths out there.

I'm in a similar spot, trying to pick out a scope for my first elk hunt. I'm set on FFP, illuminated scopes and willing to tolerate a bit more weight, but here's the list I put together if it helps.

Anymore, it seems that 25 ounce mark is a limiting factor. Go up to 28-30 ounces and more scopes fit that criteria.

I‘ve taken a liking to the older Premier Light Tactical 3-15x50. Great glass, mil, mildot Gen 2 reticle, illuminated, and 27 ounces. The bare bones Hunter model is about 25 ounces. And if you findone they’re in the $1500 range.

I also had a S&B PMII 3-12x50, P3 reticle, with fixed parallax (300m) and non-illuminated. Weighed 25 ounces, but had 34mm tube. Stupid me traded that away…

For some reason I’m wanting to try an ATACR 4-16x42 but the 30 oz weight is getting up there.
