Looking at getting the Sitka ambient 75 for archery elk hunting out west. Looks like kuiu also has several tops that might work. What is similar in the kuiu line to the ambient 75
Kuiu doesn’t make an insulation similar to alpha or the primaloft version - you want the ambient. For “active insulation” the kenai is closest product, but that’s still faced on the inner side, and far heavier insulated as a puffy. The closest kuiu would have is one of their fleece mid-layer products.
Everything is a tradeoff. I've got the old 150 version of the ambeint. Kelvin Active hoodie and I like it. I haven't tried the lighter version as for me I don't see a place for it. I use a 150 base merino, 200 weight Peloton fleece then add the Kelvin Active hoodie.
I really, really like the 200 Peloton. I've used it for at least 8 seasons on nearly every hunt and beat the heck out of it. For me that's worth it as it's typically what I'm wearing when moving.
I ran the original Ambient jacket on my elk hunt this year and I loved it. I hardly took it off except for mid day in the sun. It was perfect for early morning climbs. Check out euro optic and mountain archery - I got mine for around 50% off over there.
