So I hunt Idaho and weather conditions can switch fast in the high mountains. I would interested to know how people keep their boots dry and or dry out their boots after a long day. I have read backpacking articles about perspiration of feet in the amount of 16oz a day. I imagine that has to do with hot weather during summer backpacking trips but it goes to show the amount of moister that can still happen in boots. I wear breathable waterproof boots but after 2-5 days in a row hiking I have notices increased moisture. We have dried boots out by the fire. I have heated up rocks and put them in my boots. Sometime when we base camp at a trailer we can dry out boots out by air vents (but this doesn't happen often).....how is everyone getting or keeping their boots dry? this last year I started wearing sock liners which was helpful and I defiantly had fewer blisters.....just wanting to keep my feet dry and happy so I can hunt harder.....longer. Thanks in advance for the advice

I take a couple news papers . Crumple up and put in boots by fire. Take out inserts first of course to dry too. Take paper out of boots in morning and boots dry. I leave paper outside if not raining or in tent if raining and it will dry out to use again.

Interesting idea. thanks

One idea is placing desiccant inside your boots when you take them off for the night. You can buy pails of it in the RV section of Walmart then just scoop it out of the large pack into a thin sock so it fits properly inside your boot. It's not a perfect option but when you have no electricity it's better than nothing.

It also depends on boot material. Using heat, particularly direct heat on wet leather will end up cracking the leather.
And too much heat can start the rand and sole separating.. Takes WAY less heat than you'd think..

+1 for newspapers.
+1 for taking the insoles out.

Pull the insole out. Open laces. Pull tongue out as much as possible.

Turn the boot upside down.

Even stuffing dirty clothes/socks in the boots can help pull moisture out. But that's a balance, stuff em too full and it doesnt help.

Place in an area that is windy.

Some boots with GTX liners you can invert the GTX liner outside of the boot

I used to keep my boots in the foot of my sleeping bag that atleast keeps them warm.

On the mountain newspaper great truck camp peet boot dryer and as noted don’t get them close to the fire bad juju to the boot had paper jammed down in boot that I stashed week before for fire starting 8AEC68B8-EC95-4F5C-915E-4DD4768DDD20.jpegC09304C9-26B4-4136-A616-33893DEE1848.jpegC09304C9-26B4-4136-A616-33893DEE1848.jpeg
