Looking for some early season boxer briefs I have been using the UA ones for the past couple years but was gonna try some Merino ones the brands I was looking at were First Lite, Minus33, and Ibex. Or if there are any other good brands. I have heard the first light ones weren't very durable having seen much on the others.

The Minus 33 briefs are the first piece of wool clothing from that company I have not really liked.
The material is good quality but the design or cut of the brief is a little too "brief". Legs too short.
Almost felt like it was a wool version of a Hanes tidy whitey.
Others might disagree.

Got a pair of the core4element for a good price on camofire. Work pretty good although they are a little short for my liking and tend to ride up if you have thick thighs.

i love icebreaker as a brand, but their boxer brief also ride up and are super thin. They did not last a year for me. I would stay AWAY from icebreaker. I love everything else they make.

I moved away from merino boxers to Exofficio boxer briefs. They are awesome. Do a search on here for then as they are highly regarded by many here.

I tried the first lite brand and my fear of the merino boxer briefs being unsupportive were confirmed. I hate boxers, I mean really hate them. If you don't have this problem then the merino boxer briefs will work for you. I tried the Adidas climalite underwear this year and plan on getting some exoffico boxer briefs. The Adidas worker well for me but then I'm not a heavy sweater so maybe that's why I don't have issues like others do

My biggest issue with the merino stuff I tried was that it would eventually stretch and sag on my legs which led to them bunching up and needing constant adjustment. The Exofficios stay "tight" on my legs and don't loosen or sag

I have had the Core4Element boxers for a few years and have put them through their paces. They've worked great and compared to others, were much cheaper. I think I got them off of Camofire for less than $20 per pair.

I wear exoficious for work and love them but they fit very similar to the FL boxers for me minus the stink.

The only merino wool underwear bottoms I have owned are First Lite and the crotch (TAINT) area thinned and shredded after only about 10 times using them. I only hang dry merino and own many merino pieces of gear so it wasnt any fault of laundering abuse.. I actually really like all my other first lite gear but these were REALLY disappointing. The EX Officio bowers briefs previously mentioned last a long time and I really like them BUT they are for warmer weather.

Last year I used Core4 Element and was pleased. They have started to pill a bit, but I do have prob over 100 washings on them.
I just recently picked up a couple par of the IceBreaker and they are head and shoulders better so far. Crazy comfy. I was so happy with the comfort at work this past week that I shared It with my crew....It actually went over well as many of them have learned how great merino is!

I have tried Minus33 and First Lite. The Minus33 are okay but are much more closely related to straight briefs than boxer briefs and they ride up and bunch up like crazy. I didn't notice any unusual funk and they have held up okay but I don't wear them much.

The First Lite are my faves by a country mile and I wore them all last hunting season. I did have one pair that the taint area shredded after a single use but First Lite exchanged them for me. I very much like the longer length of these and they perform equally well in warm or cold conditions. The only negative I can give them is the price which is overly steep in my estimation.

My favorite are the First Lite Red Desert boxer. A close second is Sitka’s Merino Core boxer. While I prefer the overall fit of the Sitka merino core boxer (more trim to First Lite’s looser fit) the wider waist band of the Red Desert is the deciding factor. While wearing the Sitka Core the thin waist band can fold over creating minor discomfort / irritation, this is never an issue on the Red Desert, thus pushing them the top of my list. I've run various synthetics over the years and just prefer merino. Maybe you anti-boxer guys can call up Kenton and see if he will make you some bikini briefs? ;) We could call them the First Lite Bare Bones Briefs...
