I am looking to upgrade to some mid-range binos and have a chance to pick up some Meopta Meostar non-hd for a great price or I am at a toss up between Vortex Vipers and Leupold Mojave Pro Guides. I've have looked through these binos in the stores but haven't used them in the field where it really counts so I am hoping someone who has used at least two of these binos can chime in with some wisdom. It the newer ED glass a big enough upgrade where I shouldn't be looking at anything without it?

I wouldn't think either of those is on par the the Meostar. I think if you look at Rokslide reviews there may be some articles on the earlier Meostar.

No experience with the Meopta binocs, but have a pair of the 10x 42 pro guides and really like em a lot. Quick and easy to focus, easy to run one handed, great clarity for my eyes. Don't spend hours at a time glassing with them, but haven't noticed any eye fatigue when I have been behind them for a while.
Thought about grabbing an extra pair for the Missus a few times. They get used in SE Alaska weather, so far with no ill effect.
That being said, if you have a store where you can look through them all, hopefully at something outside, couldn't hurt to look through them again.
See which ones your eyes like better, if any one pair jumps out as being more comfortable and stable in the hand. And being able to focus them quickly with one hand, get on something moving is kinda important to me, ymmv.

I have the pro guides as well and I love them! Used them antelope hunting in the grasslands the last few years and they have impressed me. I've spent time looking thru other higher priced binos and the pro guides hold their own... Love the focus on them, seems like I hardly ever have to mess with it.

The pro guides and the vipers are very comparable optics wise but I preferred the ergonomics of the pro guides. I didn't care for how easily the focus knob moved on the vipers. I have the pro guides and my friend has the vipers. Both very nice just depends on preference.

believe the hype on the meopta optics
they are fantastic, i had the chance to look through the cabelas euro 12x20 same as the meopta, non hd versions, they are awesome.
my next glass will be meopta for sure......

Well I went the complete opposite direction and went with Zeiss Conquest. Thanks for the input everyone. I am hoping with this glass that I won't be wishing I would have gotten something better. Did you already get out on your hunt wasatch?

I think you'll be happy with that decision. They are on par with the Meostar HD and in my opinion an upgrade over the others.

You would have to spend a lot more to gain incremental improvements over them.

struck out in AZ
actually it was terrible where we were at, saw only a couple deer, lots of burrows, and cactus
good thing i can go back in december and try for a little redemption....
let me know how you like that glass.
