Meopta Optika LR VS Leica Geovid R Binoculars, Matt Cashell

Bumping this up just because there is still almost nothing about the Meoptas online aside from the useless gun magazine articles.

TLDR: I agree with Matt's opinion that these are insanely good range-finding binoculars. I frequently see them in the $1k range used and $1400 range new...which makes them even more of a no-brainer.

I scooped some 10x42 LRs last season and they have quickly become my go-to rifle season binoculars.

I have owned a pair of 12x50 Meostar HDs, and would be lying if I said I could tell a difference in the image quality between the two. Both are stellar. Alpha glass 100%, none of that "near alpha" for half the price mumbo jumbo you hear about Meopta, legitimately elite image quality, color rendition (especially for hunting being slightly warm), and imho the best durability, they are built like a tank.

I rotate between 8x32 ELs and 10x32 Victory SFs during summer and bow season....and really don't give up anything but FOV (both actual and usable due to flatter fields) and depth of field. The center 70% of the Meoptas is crystal clear and has ZERO CA, which I'm super sensitive to.

I did not experience the color difference between barrels after trying to in all kinds of terrain, backdrops, lighting. Not saying it doesn't exist, but my eyes can't detect it.

If I had to nitpick a single thing about them, it would be the depth of field. I find myself fine tuning the focus more on these than my other high end binos while scanning terrain, which is more of a slight annoyance than an actual issue, and mostly illustrates how dialed in the EL and SF lines are.

For anyone on the fence, I heartily recommend these, one of my best gear pick-ups in the last few years for sure.
