Folks,

I reached out to Robby and asked if he thought there was any value in creating a compilation of images or digiscoped videos that would enable members to get some idea of the performance they could expect from a particular optic they are considering buying.

Obviously, the best place to start in researching what optic to buy would come from a formal review that goes into more specifics on an optic's technical attributes. However, I thought adding member's images/videos that encompass different atmospheric conditions and distances could be helpful.

Essentially, a member could add an image/video with a description of the optic, the power, atmosphere conditions, time of day, distance, etc.

Whether this thread becomes valuable will be based on how many samples get uploaded.

However, to get it started, here's a video of 2 mule deer bucks (deer are in center of video).
The optics used are:
Swarovski ATX 25x60x65
Swarovski 1.7 Magnification Extender
Phone Skope with Bluetooth Shutter
iPhone 6s
Tripod: Promaster XC525c
Head: Outdoorsmans Micro panhead
Video taken 11/28
Time of day: 4:15 PM
Temperature: 43 degrees
Mostly sunny with low humidity and wind
Power: 100
Distance 3.25 miles (measured with onX maps)

That's very impressive. I will suggest that you also describe your tripod/head setup, as this can make a huge difference, especially in photography. Great idea by the way.

I thought about the tripod / head but you're right, those should be included too.

I'm not the most well versed on posting, but it looks like if you use YouTube for linking your video, it won't default to embed/play at HD quality.

I'm not sure if there's a way to correct that, but I suppose adding the link to the video would allow someone interested in the HD version to view it on whatever hosting site you're using.

The difference between HD video and what's embedded is pretty significant.
