My buddy was going g to sell this old meat cleaver that he got at a garage sale for $16 and I just had to have it. It had no handle and was looking it's age which could have been 100+ years. It was made by L & I. J. White from Buffalo, NY. Itsat around for about 10 years and I finally decided it needed a handle. I saw a video Michael McCrory posted making a knife handle. I contacted him and we came to an agreement for him to make a handle for this. Needless to say if you watch the video Mike went way, way beyond. It's worth the watch.

Coolio! he did a great job

I have an old (not nearly as old as yours) Briddell clever- guessing 1930's, maybe I should restore it up :)

Awesome I’ll have to check that out. I started making knives last year and it’s a blast. I’ve used ironwood, cocobolo, sheep horns, buffalo horns, oak and walnut. The exotics are my favorites so far

Man that things impressive.
What do you use it for, splitting rounds for the wood stove?
I had thoughts of using it for butchering but it may just wind up being a conversation piece.

I can't get a feel for the scale/size of your cleaver but it sure resembles what we called a " hog splitter".
The folding knife is 8 1/2 inches long. The blade of the cleaver is 12 1/2 inches at the longest part and the handle is 12 inches.
