Anyone have first hand experience with the new MDT Hunt Muzzle Brake? I have a custom 280 Ackley Improved that I am trying to lighten up. I will be ordering a PSE Evolution stock soon and ditching the fully adjustable McMillan A-10.

I just realized that the MDT Elite brake that I have on the rifle now is around 6 oz, and the new Hunt model brake is only like 1.6 oz.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

I have no shooting experience with that brake, but I did get my hands on one at Shotshow early this year. They are so light they almost feel fake. I don't know how well they would hold up to load development or recreational shooting, but for hunting they should fit what you're looking for. Just a suggestion I would check out the Salmon River Solutions Ti muzzle brakes, I have a couple of theirs and couldn't be happier with the quality.

Thanks for the feedback. I ended up ordering the Hunt brake a few weeks ago. I only have ~50 rounds through it so far. We'll see how it does

Yes, a bunch of concussion. Enough to constantly blow my Garmin over if its not sitting in the perfect spot, and as expected, extremely loud

@bayou0509 - Following up on this post to hear your thoughts since you've had it a while. Are you happy with it? Have you moved on to something else?

I honestly dont know if there is enough difference over the elite muzzle brake to justify the cost. The recoil and noise decibel is essentially the same. If I were building the rifle from scratch again, I would've asked Jamie at Wolf Precision to install the Hunt Brake initially rather than me having to swap it out after the fact.

If you are chasing ounces like I am, I guess it's worth the money but I feel like I could have fared ok without it.

Thanks for the info and prompt response! I'm comparing buying one of these to the ACE that most of the PRS guys are using (https://precisionrifleblog.com/2024/08/11/best-muzzle-brake-what-the-pros-use/). The weight doesn't bother me so much for my 7mm PRC. Now, if I were swapping the one on my magnesium and carbon 6.5mm CM, it would be different. I'm more about control and watching hits than saving weight. Now, I'm not going to bring out my 25 lbs monster to the mountains though! LOL.
