Interesting. It has pillars? The bedded lug would prevent it from moving back. How did it manage to crack there?

With Edge fill pillars are automatic. They didn’t elaborate on the cause, they just took care of it.

I went with a B&C Medalist on my R700 7mm08. For my uses, the intersection of cost and quality is about right in the B&C line. WIth that said, the McMillan is obviously a better stock.

My rifle consistently shoots half MOA with several factory loads in the B&C, but the forend flex is still there and groups fall apart with a bipod. I doubt that would be an issue in a McMillan, but at twice the price.

I like my HS stock,but it's heavy.
I agree the H-S Precision certainly are not the lightest. I have some of their sporter/ hunting stocks for 2 piece bottom metal M70’s and Ruger Mark II / Hawkeye. I use them on 375’s and 416’s where weight is not a big concern to me. I have one on a M70, 300 Winchester.

I also have some Bell & Carlson on a couple of M70 WSMs, a M70 H&H length action, and a CZ 458 Lott. Again not the lightest. But overall, I like them. I will probably try their new offerings for Rugers.

McMillans, I have them on Rugers and M70’s in several Rugers. I like these considerably. One reason is the various models / styles that you can order them. And usually they weigh somewhat less than H-S Precision and Bell & Carlson.

They all have their niche. On any of them, I suggest ordering to your length of pull, the recoil pad of your choice, and bedding.

Edit to add: pretty much All of them need a bit of fitting to your specific barrel & action. Manufacturing tolerances / dimensions do vary.

Short story on McMillian -

*Edit 2/16/2021 - Working with McMillian they have helped me with the dilemma and we have a plan*

Back to this,

I have got several HS precision stocks I am very happy with and also B.C. They are good stocks.

I also have a Mesa Altitude I also like a bunch.

I'd feel pretty good with a B.C or an HS

Short story on McMillian -

I got verbal commitment that they would do a LH stock for my Mauser. Then I called to ship it in last month (January) I was told they where no longer offering the stocking service for the Mausers. I asked since when and the man informed me it was a Jan 1st 2021 decision based on the time it takes there techs to complete.. I explained I just called 2 months ago to confirm again they could do it and got everything arrange to send it in through my FFL after my gunsmith completed the metal work and barreled action. It didn't seem to matter. They offered to send me a Blank stock to fit it myself. I was not to happy about that. They did offer someone else's fitting services in Indiana. Needless to say I had Boyd's knock out a stock to get me by until I can resolve this. I m having a hard time finding someone other than McMillian or MPI to make a true commercial left hand fiberglass stock......... I m going to call them again and see if I can at least get something other than a "Flat top"

Bob Beck recently purchased McMillan. Sounds like 1 of the changes might be doing fewer custom 1 off stuff and putting out higher volume of the common stuff. Things have likely changed a bunch there in the last couple months.
