Max Velocity for Match Bullets?

B Litz discusses this maximum velocity situation. He actually attributes projectile failure to heat transfer. When the lead starts to get molten, it separates from the jacket, which causes catastrophic failure in flight.

It's pretty square info. A eldm in 308 will vanish around 315 from my experience. If you section some various bullets and measure the jacket thickness you have to believe that any other will be similar since the material properties are similar if not exactly the same.

I’ve driven 50 grain VMax bullets at 3950 from my 22-250AI with a 7 twist barrel and they have never come part in flight.

They are extremely violent when they hit a living target though.

55 bal tips in 6mm at 3900 hold together in an 8 twist.
as for match bullets, so do 67 carpenters or 68 barts at 3500to 3600 in an 8t.
