He had 17 or 18, or he didn't draw a Type 1 in 2024.
No he didn’t that’s why I asked the question how. Did he get a commissioner tag? Landowner tag? And yes I know the landowner system in WY. There is a way to get landowner tags in WY without owning land so I’m curious if he went that loophole route.

He burned a few points a few years back

Big private ranches area 7 is a real winner if you have max points and max dollars. No wolves, big bulls. Lots of locked gates.

We scoff at them but if you got the points and money it’s world class elk hunting.

You are overthinking it. The guy didn't say he hunted elk with them last year. It could have been deer. He just said that he hunted with them.
True, or pronghorn. Just more curious about the giant elk comment. Have spent a lot of time there and there is not that many elk over 320 and very rarely does one break the 350 mark. There is a curve applied by locals and I’ve seen it as high as 20 points.

Fun hunt and cool area but I wouldn’t use max points there

I deleted my previous comment after reading the quoted post. I think the guy was referring to 2023 as "last year" when he got in with four points.

I've never looked at the odds in that area.
