Max points in WY, not hunted there since the 90s need advice

You are overthinking it. The guy didn't say he hunted elk with them last year. It could have been deer. He just said that he hunted with them.
True, or pronghorn. Just more curious about the giant elk comment. Have spent a lot of time there and there is not that many elk over 320 and very rarely does one break the 350 mark. There is a curve applied by locals and I’ve seen it as high as 20 points.

Fun hunt and cool area but I wouldn’t use max points there

I deleted my previous comment after reading the quoted post. I think the guy was referring to 2023 as "last year" when he got in with four points.

I've never looked at the odds in that area.

How did you get a unit 30 tag with less than max points? What are you calling giant? There’s rarely a bull over 340 killed in that unit (still a great bull )
Random tag. I believe there were two issued in 2023 and I was one of the lucky recipients who got one with only one point. Truly blessed.

Two hunters before me that year scored in the 360's, and one in the 380's. Sorry if 340 is not a giant for most of you, but for an average hunter like myself, they're massive.

Thank you for the correction. 2023 is the correct year.
