Every mfg does something better than others and price isn't always indicative of the quality/value. My question is what do you think Maven has produced that is better than it's competitors?

I can only speak to the 9x45 B2 but I’ve been beyond impressed. After putting them side by side with SLCs and ELs, I see no optical benefit to upgrading. Can’t help but crack a smile every time I throw them on the tripod, they are just that good. Field of view, clarity, crispness, color, low light performance, it checks every box for me.

Agreed. I picked up a pair of EL 8.5x42's and really they are just a touch better for 2x the price. Basically bigger depth of field and a slight (ever so slight) better resolution when I am looking at stuff at 1200 yards.

Honestly though, when glassing through the EL's and the B2's I can honestly forget which ones I am looking through.

I would say the B5 is a close second. I love mine.

It's worth noting that 90% of these optics companies are just resellers and make nothing themselves, including Maven, Tract, Bushnell, Sig, etc, etc, etc. They all use the same manufacturers in Japan and/or China. Some have differing specs as specified by the resellers, and many are just clones. Not a terrible thing, just reality.

People really love their B2 9x45s, but side by side they don't hold up to ELs or any alpha. Glassing from the hand you could say they are close, but the Maven doesn't have the same color contrast or edge to edge clarity IMO. Put them on a tripod and the gap widens further.

That said, I love my RS3 scope. Everything you need and nothing you don't. The friction ring zero-stop is easy an fault-proof, the magnification range is awesome, and the weight, 26.5oz is unmatched in a scope with a similar mag range.

EL is better, but I think it is much closer than people let on...I just got a pair of NL 10x, hoping that I can hold it as steady as my EL 8.5 when using the headrest.

I am still torn about getting the RS3 scope...unsure about using 5x as the low power with a FFP scope. I was on 5 power when I killed my bull last year at 100 yards or so.

But to answer original OP's question...what truly sets maven apart is being able to fully customize good optics.

I've only had range time with my RS3, but I will say that the floating dot at 5x on anything but a white background is basically invisible, but the reticle edges that form a box around the center dot are very visible and functional for quick shorter-range shots. That dot is awesome for higher magnification precision shooting though.

I would say their demo program. You can request a demo model and they'll include the returning shipping label. You have 2 weeks to try the product out with no obligation to buy.

I have owned their B5 18x56. They are really good but at that level of magnification, the difference between it and Swaro or Meopta glass was noticeable. If just wanting 10x or less, I wouldn't care.

B2 and C series, the b2s are not alpha but they are probably the best in the price range and you get 99-95% of what the alpha glass offers at way less of price, and with the C series again your getting really good performance at a lesser price. They seem to have done well like kuiu with the direct to consumer business model.

That is my opinion
