Maven vs Zeiss spotters

Both sourced spotters from same maker in Japan. You can also add the new Vortex Razor HD and Nightforce spotter. Zeiss will have better resale value in that matters, if not buy the cheapest one you find.

To be honest.... Zeiss gavia line has a horrible resale value.

Yes , compared to their top of the line optics but still better than the others listed.

You can also add the Leupold Santium spotters to the list above of basically the same units with different branding.

Another consideration is the no fault warranty of the Vortex which puts it ahead of the others.

This is commonly stated but usually doesn't translate into the glass being equal. Having the same body design doesn't mean the same factory.

I had a Maven it was better than ANY razor I've ever tried. The WA eyepiece is dang nice, but limits the top end which is why I went another direction. That Zeiss does get terrible reviews I'd definitely try before purchasing and it better be a great deal. I think the new Nikon is the best of that design, I wouldn't hesitate to buy one if I found a good deal but be prepared to pack that tank around. Never pay retail for vortex they give so many pro staffers discounts someone is always unloading one for a hefty price reduction. I agree some people can't get over the warranty on vortex but I don't see it as a huge selling point in that price range.
