I got tired of the little nub on the Maven RS1.2 magnification ring and didn’t like any of the bulky, cumbersome, and oversized throw levers that go around the whole mag ring and cover up the nice knurling.
So I decided to make my own solution.
Here is basically what I would call a finished finalized prototype of my design. Went through 10 iterations to get here.
It's made from carbon fiber infused nylon and is rock solid. It started out with the knob centered but had issues with leverage at that location. So I ended up moving the knob forward so the screw would mount directly through the knob to the factory screw location. It's ~15mm tall and should have as much clearance for the bolt handle as possible using the factory mounting hole location. I even added a color filled arrow to indicate magnification like on the back of the factory metal piece.
I am quite happy with it in my uses and now have a few going out into the wild to see some heavier use.
