Maven RS1.2 2.5-15x44mm SHR-Mil Q&A

I would bet, that the higher precision actually results in worse shooting. I have no proof of that, just the observation that a lot of conscious precision gets in the way of the much larger subconscious portions of our brain.

There's something to this, though I'd argue it's more an issue of conditioning, experience, reps, etc, than any inherent badness to the nature of precision and info. I suspect it's more an issue of mental loading, focus dilution, and anticipation.

It's something I saw back in the mid-late 1990s, when some guys transitioned from irons on carbines to ACOGs at first, especially at speed. Some were excellent shooters with irons, but were just bafflingly less precise at first with ACOGs. It seemed to be an issue of excess information compared to what they were used to coming in, that was shifting their focus, making them anticipate the shot more, etc. Until they learned to tune their focus better. Then they got a lot better than they were with irons.

Virtually every discipline has "beginner" equipment, and "advanced/expert" equipment" and usually the delineation is the amount of feedback that is delivered and the precision required to use it. Beginners need less, and most of us are likely on the beginner side of the spectrum relative to the true pro operators and experts of the world. I know I am.
