Agree. Overstated issue..Bigger o-ring, small piece of electrical tape, or just building a check into your shot process.
The problem is overstated. Does it happen? Yes, occasionally. But it’s not a major drawback

I use black painters (masking) tape because it only takes one wrap. With electrical tape you have to go around and around and you wouldn't know if it spun inside the wrap when the adhesive slips.Has anyone come up with any practical ways to limit the elevation turret turning? Really the only thing holding me back is the lack of a locking turret. It’s going on a rifle that’s going to be carried into the backcountry on a pack.

The NX8 eyebox issues are overstated. That said, I don’t think they’re nearly as good for hunting as the Maven.
The reticle, mostly. Why are the mavens better than the 2.5-20 NX8s would you say?
Also is everyone’s RS1.2s illumination on the dim side?

The maven has a better eye box, better overall glass, and way better reticle for hunting. It’s also just as robust if not more. Why would you pay more to get less?I just picked up a few Maven RS1.2s and i am very happy with them. I have one last hunting rifle that needs a scope upgrade from a Vortex Viper and was kicking around a NX8 2.5-20. Do those have eye box issues? i have heard that from some people. Their specs say they are the same as the NX8 4-32s. Also looking at the creedo... am i wasting money with the other two and should i just get another RS1.2?
Maven is more robust than NF? That’s the first I’ve heard that. How did you come to this conclusion? The maven has a better eye box, better overall glass, and way better reticle for hunting. It’s also just as robust if not more. Why would you pay more to get less?
The mil C reticle is more than serviceable.
As robust or more in what I’ve seen with multiple samples of each. I’m not trying to shit on the NF. It’s a good scope. But why spend more?Maven is more robust than NF? That’s the first I’ve heard that. How did you come to this conclusion?
Correct.Didn’t you say you’ve never shot a 4-32?
By using both side by side in the field.Better overall glass? I don’t think so. How did you come to this conclusion?
It works. The mil C reticle is more than serviceable.
Is the 4-32 that much different than the 2.5-20s?Lots of opinions here, some seem unfounded based off your previous admission that you hadn’t shot the 4-32.
Indeed. A better overall scope than the NX8.All of that being said, the maven is a fine scope.
If you have a chance to shoot the 4-32 I’d be interested to hear your opinion. As robust or more in what I’ve seen with multiple samples of each. I’m not trying to shit on the NF. It’s a good scope. But why spend more?
Correct.

The last thing I want to do is give Maven more sales, but there isn’t a better overall hunting scope thats readily available right now than this one. In my opinion/experience.
This. I told someone the other day that I’m such a gear ho/poor financial decision maker that I generally won’t let money hold me back from having what I perceive to be the absolute best on my primary hunting and competition rifles, and my two primary hunting rifles wear RS1.2’s. Nothing else comes close for a FFP/MIL hunting scope, at any price level.
I’ve had a couple NX8’s and while glass is debatable I don’t really care about glass in a rifle scope once it has reached competency level, which the Maven is well above, it’s been proven through testing here to be as durable as the NF, and the eyebox (read:: user friendliness in the field) and reticle absolutely curb stomp the NX8 for hunting.
Trade me your POS NF!!!I’m putting together another rifle as we speak since I got roped into a rokstock to try out.
I have the NX8 4-32 and @Ucsdryder beloved razor LHT on other identical Tikka rifles. I have an order in for this maven so looking forward to see what my favorite is.
I love that thing… tight eye box(sarcasm) and allTrade me your POS NF!!!
I do think the glass is better on the Maven. Not hugely so, but better.Better overall glass? I don’t think so. How did you come to this conclusion?
It’s serviceable for hunting, but not much more. The RS1.2 is a legitimately good reticle. The mil C reticle is more than serviceable.
