I was waiting for the RF.1 to come back in stock but the RFZ.1 came in stock first and am considering it. I realize it's a new model but looking for anyone's opinion...

I think having a built in monocular that zooms from 6x - 12x would be useful in many ways. I also think 6x would be marginally better for archery hunting. It's only $100 more.

Can anyone think of any potential cons? Mostly will use it for archery and hunting out west.

The objective is smaller @ 21mm vs 25mm on the RF1 and lightly larger/heavier as expected.

RFZ.1 6-12x 21

Size: 5.3 in. x 3.2 in. x 2.1 in.
Weight: 10.6 oz.

RF1 7x25

Size: 4.7 in. x 3.1 in. x 1.8 in.
Weight: 10 oz.

I have the rf1 and wouldn't use anything larger. If my leica wasn't stolen I wouldn't have this one. The clarity and functionality of it is good but the controls are cumbersome and often get in the way.

So, being that I've never used the Z model, I don't have much to offer you.

Yeah I'm a little concerned about size. It's tempting to add a monocular but I'm not sure it would be all that useful in the field with such a small field of view. Definitely would be great at the range and precision ranging longer distances.

I'm going to give it a week or so to see if the RF.1 comes in stock then make my mind up. Maven said they're hoping to have more by mid-December.
