I'm shopping around for a used set of Maven B6 10x50. They seem to be the best bang for your buck for primary whitetail / occasional elk hunting. Do you think 10x50 is overkill? What competitors would you recommend. I have not had the chance to look through a set yet. Only opinion is based from internet research. Thank you

I like mine. I don’t find them to be bulky. They still fit in my marsupial harness that was purchased for my 10x42’s. My main goal was light transmission and they’ve been great for that

Maven’s B6 is physically the same size as (sometimes smaller than) pretty much any company’s 10x42 variants. They’re not like any other bino on the market size wise, they’ve packed x50 performance into an x42 form factor. They stand alone in their little niche, and there isn’t another 10x50 binocular on the market I would recommend as superior until you hit Leica Ultravid territory. Otherwise, the 10x50 B6 stands alone.

That said, if you’re primarily a whitetail hunter and occasionally do other stuff, I would suggest the B1.2 8x42. I love the 10x50 as a do-it-all western bino, but a 10x anything is probably overkill for close quarters whitetail.
