Mathews VXR

The basic geometry of Matthews' risers hasn't changed in quite a few years.

I'm glad someone else is being objective and see's this. Go over to archerytalk and say that... The boys over there will come unhinged. Its to the point now that I've resorted to trolling them with memes over the hysteria that VXR is complete different from the Halon's, Vertix's, etc. Come on now... lol

Go over to Archerytalk? No thank you. ;-)

OK, now that's funny!

To be fair, the 28" is the same price as last year's bows. It seems with bows that minor improvements every year add up over 3-5 years for significant gains. My Traverse is staying.

I haven’t owned a Mathews since the Z7. I’ve owned 4 Primes since and never touched a Mathews because of the marketing crap. I shot the Prime Black 5, Bowtech Revolt x, a new Hoyt and the VXR 31.5 yesterday. My Prime CT 3 is now going up for sale, Mathews VXR 31.5 is a great shooting bow, and I resisted the hype from the shop owner about it. I will also say the Bowtech was very nice as well.

What did you choose? another Prime?

I went to the local archery shop yesterday and shot the VXR 28, the hoyt rx-4 carbon, and the axius alpha and all three were very nice, great shooting bows. For me the VXR felt the best, followed by the axius. I shot all three set on 70#'s with the 80% let off. I thought the hoyt's had a bit smoother draw cycle (not sayingthe VXR is harsh, just different), but other than that the VXR was the winner for me. I have been shooting a hoyt for several years now, but I am going to buy the VXR soon.

I shot the 31.5 VXR yesterday, as well as Primes new Black series. Will be picking up the Ambush Green VXR the Friday after Thanksgiving. The new primes were nice but the VXR was smoother with less hand shock.

I really like the new color, but didn’t care for the bow, felt very much like the vertix ( top heavy). I did like shooting the traverse though, but they don’t offer it in the new color. Not worth it to me settling for the VXR on color alone. TXR shot really nice also, and they are available in hunting weights, but 1800.00, no thanks.
