Mathews Lift - Warning - It bit me

Sounds like your shop opens on Tuesday? Does it make sense to wrap that section of the limb to keep that splinter compressed and see if that reduces the noise at least and it will get you through your trip? My initial thoughts are just wrap with compression wrap like coban or even that camo fabric tape that clings to itself.

I have a 2014 PSE Freak. I've had five different limbs splinter on that thing. The last one happened in early 2020, but PSE stopped carrying those limbs. Well, I had a moose and sheep hunt in 2020 and got my bull and ram with that bow. I still shoot it every now and then, it even has two splinters now. But I picked up a Mathews Traverse a couple years ago just to be safe. I superglued the splinters down and clamped them. They still seem fine and haven't gotten any worse. I asked PSE if shooting 80lbs at 32.5" draw could be a serious stress point on those limbs. They said "maybe". LOL 🤷‍♂️

Good luck on your hunt.

I had something related happen about 25 yrs ago when a PSE riser violently broke apart upon the release of an arrow. I was grateful that none of us were injured (my wife, our very young son were beside me watching). i believe it was one of their magnesium risers, if I'm not mistaken.

Happy to say customer service from PSE was excellent as they gave me a brand new bow.

Haters going to hate but a Mathews Q2, a cut off sock, and a handful of good flying arrows at 45 yards are Colorado or bust 3rd axis??? I don’t even have a bubble!

I'm not going to go into the number of Lifts I sold in my shop last year other than it was a very good year for us. We have had exactly one bow come back with a limb splinter issue. Harking back to the days of older single cam bows before the SE limbs, we saw a lot more problems than we do today.

Not trying to derail, but my Phase 4 bearings went 'out' this weekend while shooting. I leave on Sept 19th, local archery shop said approx 10-14 days on this repair......cutting it close......Like you, I am glad it happened BEFORE I get out in the woods.

Man…just reading this gives me anxiety. Hope you get it worked out one way or another and have a good hunt.

Makes me glad/relieved I have a backup.

Update: Got the lift back yesterday. I had to swap top hats and do a full re-tune. Going to try and get it a little more refined and then focus on sighting it in over the next two days.

I feel for ya. I had a similar issue two years ago. Had to get new limbs two weeks before a New Mexico Elk hunt. Got a backup after and always will have one now
