Marsupial Harness-Magnetic or Non-Magnetic?

Hello, new to Rokslide. I know this topic has been beat but ask by about bino harnesses. Been looking for one to replace my old Vortex Glasspak harness and the general consensus tends to be Marsupial. My question is If you had to pick one, Would it be magnetic or non magnetic? I’ve read magnets may cause issues with GPS but also heard the No-Mag can interfere with usage of the side pockets so wanted to ask opinions. Mostly used for Whitetail hunting in the Midwest but possibly used for Western hunting in the future.

I have the magnetic enclosed and have no issues. You can hold your arm out a little further away when using a compass. Doesn't affect my OnX just my wrist compass.

Alright, I don’t use OnX or mapping at all much but when I do it’s usually new ground in the dark lol.

I have a non-magnetic bino harness and a magnetic rangefinder pouch from them.

I had the magnetic closure on the rangefinder slam shut hard enough to get the attention of a whitetail I intended to shoot. I can't recall the exact distance, 75-100yd.

I don't totally love the bino harness, but I would go non-magnetic for mostly whitetail hunting.

I like the magnets for security but hate them so much for this reason alone. When it shuts on its own it is so ridiculously loud. Now when I’m to my spot or on a stalk I tuck the bino harness flap inside the pouch so it’s not in the way. The rangefinder pouch has a magnet on the bottom also that allows you to keep it permanently open. Helps a ton.

If I had my choice again I’d go non magnet.
Also look at fitment. My vortex razor 4000 is a bear to take out of the pouch because it’s so snug. Far from smooth at times.

Interesting but makes sense. What makes you not love the harness? It seems to be a favorite amongst most.

Magnetic on the bino box. I don't do magnetic on the rangefinder pouch since it has been said that magnets can impair a rangefinder.

I have their larger size and my 50mm binos are a very tight fit. I have used it for about a year and it has not loosened up much. It's almost a two-hand operation. Anything smaller would fit fine.

There is also a bit of "creep" to the closure where it wants to open slightly. That doesn't really bother me, just an fyi.

It is still my favorite harness having used Kuiu and Alaska guide.

Well I think i’ve decided to just go no-mag on both the bino and rangefinder pouch. Was gonna ask what Binos you are running. They lost there no lag as taller than their standard enclosed and was trying to figure out which I need.

Ended up going with the Sig Sauer version of the Marsupial no mag harness. Pretty much the same harness, in Ranger green, Just says Sig Sauer. Saved almost $50 over the Marsupial version. Not real picky over brands so I don’t mind the logo part.

I have 2 marsupial, both magnetic. One dedicated to smaller magnification for woods hunting whitetail. iPhone, OnX, no issues.

I feel like the non mag would get in the way of one hand operation and be more of pain trying to get the wind checker in and out when its in the open position without making much noise. Anyone have this issue? I have this issue with the kuiu harness.

Man today mine snapped shut in the field and it was loud-loud. A close whitetail would have definitely busted me for it

I love the magnetic but this is a real drawback. If I used a GPS I would have to ditch I think. Have no experience with the non-mag though

My No-Mag harness is showing delivery for tomorrow. I’ll get to see how it feels but won’t be able to hunt till this upcoming weekend. But will definitely reply with opinions.
