Recently bought a Marlin classic 1894 in 44 magnum. Been practicing a bunch with it for the up coming hunting season as it will be my primary gun for deer season. Would like to change the factory sights for better ones if possible. Anyone have any recommendations or suggestions? I’ve been looking at XS Sights and Skinner Sights but haven’t decided on one yet. Would really like a good fiber optic adjustable sight if possible

I have XS ghost ring sights on an 1894. They are very fast and hunting accurate. I find them much easier to use with my run-of-the-mill vision issues.

I have Skinner on my .44 Mag 1894. Be aware you will probably need to replace the front sight with a taller one. Still playing around with the aperture size on mine but overall really like it.

Lever-action silhouette shooters tend to favor Williams peep rear sights and Lyman globe front sights with various inserts. But for hunting critters, I'd think that a red dot with variable size and brightness would be tough to beat (probably would be great for LA silhouette also, but against the rules). One comment: many have found through experience that shooting shorter cartridges, like the .44 special, through an 1894 can lead to problems. Best to load down your .44 mag for practice. It's also a challenge to drive that stubby handgun bullet at high velocity and still maintain accuracy at 200 yards or so.

As my eyes have aged, I’ve found I can’t use receiver mounted peep sights to save my life. That seems contrary to what you hear about them, but I still cannot hit the broad side of a barn with one.

Mount a red dot if your states regs allow it. Makes a big difference, especially on the shorter barrel rifles. I’ve got one mounted on my .41 Mag Marlin 1894 and it’s a big improvement over the Williams peeps on my 94 Wins.

If you’re stuck with irons, any receiver peep will do the same job.

Skinners in a “Remlin” Trapper .45/70
These were offered from the factory on this rifle.

+1 for Skinner
I'd also try out a micro red dot if you havent yet. I have a Marlin 336 set up with Skinner fiber optic peep rear, FO front sight, and an RMR on it that is a fantastic combo for pigs and deer in 30-30. The rear peep sits long enough in the rail that it doesn't interfeer with the RMR but just sits there as an already zeroed backup.

All my lever guns have skinners, and I can't recommend them enough. Plan on buying a brass front blade that you can file/mark/paint to where you want it. Also plan on trying a few different apertures to find what feels best you.

They also have the option of quick detach scope rings. I'm messing around with one now on my Henry, not quite sure yet if I like it.

Thanks guys for the info, definitely going to go with the skinner, any recommendations on the front sight. I see they have a guide gun series on the website. Thinking about the .500
I would suggest you call them and talk with them.
I did, and they set me up very well.
Very nice guys and helpful!
Unfortunately the only option for me was a barrel mounted peep as opposed to a receiver mounted peep on my model 94.
I couldn’t see the barrel mounted peep well at all, and I would have to have my bolt drilled, and tapped for a receiver mounted peep from skinner, so I have a Williams fool proof peep on mine now.
