I am really having a hard time pulling the trigger on a March. If you had one why did you go away from it? What did you replace it with? I have a ZCO420 and it’s amazing but boy is it big on a hunting rig. Help!!!

Why not for me-

What's the application and your criteria?

In terms of durable scopes evaluated here on the Slide, there's little you can't do between the SWFA fixed 6, 3-9, 3-15 and 5-20, the LRHS/LRTS lines, Maven RS 1.2, the Minox ZP5, and Nightforces ... not to mention the new RokScope.

I am staying on point here, I'd like to know of those who had a March why did they move away from it.

Following as I’ve wondered the same. I’ve got a 420 and it’s been perfect. Lots of big bumps and no shift in zero. Not saying it won’t happen but great for me

I own 2x 3-24x42 March F scopes. I had a x52 and sold it to get a 2nd x42.

I hunt recreationally and professionally with them and in the past 12 months I have shot 500+ game animals with the March on my .223. It has been mounted on that rifle for about 5 years with no issues in much harder use than average. I have also shot PRS and hunter style matches with these scopes.

The March F in my experience and demonstrated testing does not shift zero (see my posts in the scope zero check thread showing this over the past year) and in my view it is the best FFP 'crossover' scope on the market. To make blanket statements about March without having used the F is a joke.

The FML1 reticle is excellent and comes in 2 versions - unlit which is very fine, but still totally functional, and lit, which is a little thicker and probably the best FFP hunting reticle I've seen. The FML is also good and thicker but I have a preference for the FML1.

The optics are compromised by the 8x erector and compact size, but in actual use it has never been an issue for me - you just treat them as the best 3-18x on the market and dont use 19-24x. The x52 is much brighter if you care.

I could have any scope in the world, and have had many competitors, NF, S&B, etc but I currently use the March F.

The 2-12x42 NX6 may be a competitor.

Form posted the answer to 'Why not?'. I just asked what your application was so that people can help you find the solution to the 'What then?'
If everyone wants to beat the shit out of there gear and still hold zero then Form is the one to follow.
I am not saying his testing doesn't have merit but its not the be all end all either, there's a ton of variables to whether a weapon system retains its zero.

I have the March FX 4.5-28 x 52, along with other top tier optics (ZCO, NF, S&B etc). It's a great scope. My only complaint is that this specific scope has a very short tube length. I barely could get it mounted on a medium action with a split rail set up. It really requires to be mounted on a short action with a split rail, or you can go with any other larger sized action, but you must have a full rail.
