Looking at building a short action hunting rifle, either a 6.5 cm or .308

Have a Defiance Classic action to use For the build.

Looking at a Manners Pro Hunter but would prefer a steel barrel. Thinking something like a Benchmark #3,4 or 5 contour . Length would between 20-24 inches, no suppressors in Canada.

Manners stock will be custom ordered. Any suggestions for barrel contour and length that will balance well and look good in the stock. ( not sure if a #3 will look too small in the stock)

I've used a 3 and currently a 3B Bartlein in a Manners sendero channel and they look normal to me. If you can use an M5 btm metal cut you might check with redvanes on longrange hunting forum and see what he has in stock.

A Benchmark # 4 is closest the the Bartleins you own. What length are you running and how do they balance?

I am in Canada, the guy I use orders some in Sendro and some in a Benchmark # 5. I could special order a contour to match the barrel i decide on its just more of a wait.

Started at 26, cut to 24, now cut to 20 with a DD entice LTi can. Never really though about balance, It's in a slik sling when walking and on a bipod when shooting.

edit, balance point without can is right at the action face/barrel shoulder, bipod folded.

Just put a light palma at 21in into a pro hunter, same defiance classic as you. Balances great with a rs1.2 and 10oz supressor out front.
