I think it started about 1946. Rot takes a long time to fell a solid tree. The slow cultural shift certainly started before its first expression in the 1960s. The shift from putting things before ones self to everyone putting themselves first.

Violence and fighting and the high violent crime rates that peaked in 1991 certainly was not the high point of a culture and not what we should strive for.

The idiocy of self esteem parenting started with Dr. Spock's Baby and Child Care book published in 1946. It started the slow decline in discipline (note I did not say punishment). The idea that punishment equals discipline is another poisonous rot.

Wrench supported his kid harassing a kid with a mental disorder. Instead of holding his kid accountable. Two wrongs don't make a right. I don't completely agree with the way the trans issue is being handled but that doesn't mean I or really anyone should support harassing them. I don't think this thread or the military service thread it was a reaction to would exist if parents would quit defending their kids poor actions.
I agree with Marbles it definitely started before the 90s, fighting to "sort things out" was just a step along the way to where we are now. As someone who caught the end of the let them fight era I can't say that going through that helps me today as an adult. Beating up coworkers or patients when there's disagreements wouldn't work out well.

The missing information is that they sued a large school district in spokane and came to our tiny district and thought the world should revolve around them. I am fine with my perspective.....and I support my kids doing the right thing... and if it's not ok to tell someone that they are calling a verb a pronoun, then I suppose that's exactly what this thread is about.

But then again some kids think they're cats and nobody had the brains to tell them they are not cats and instead let it escalate into a crisis later in life.

If telling someone that a verb isn't a pronoun is grounds to fight.....then let it ride. This mess isn't fixing itself by supporting changing entire society because of the few.

My daughter worked years at Michaels craft store dealing with old ladies that had expired coupons, occasional strippers with 2 handfuls of dollar bills, then she went to the north end liquor store for a cpl years. Luckily she inherited my "don't give a crap about your feelings" attitude. Lots and lots of good stories.

I worked retail for 9 years and 4-5 of those were selling guns. Nothing challenged my belief that everyone should be able to own a gun more than actually selling them.

Refusing to call someone by their requested pronouns is not harassment. Its the correct and logical approach to dealing with nonsense. Where in anything Wrench posted indicated harrasment? I'd argue that a Trans person demanding for someone to call them something that they arent is harrasment.
