Thanks all. He's actually a very avid hunter, but never concerned himself with the minutiae of ballistics. Gas station ammo has always filled his freezer with whitetail, but around here, 150yds is a hell of a poke.

He'll be coming with me to the range over the coming couple of months to get some instruction in shooting & ballistics out to 500yds, but I can't imagine for a second he'll chance a shot on game much beyond 200.

He's put in the order today for the 140 Partitions & I'll help him work up a good, accurate load.

41 Grains of H4350 and that 140 Partition just off the lands is likely a great place to start in the Manbun.

I’ve chosen the 130AB for my all around use. No haven’t killed anything with it yet, but the ballistics of the 130 are better than the 140. I’m getting 2950fps wRL16.

The 140 Accubond would be hard to beat. Just don't be mad when his 6.5 manbun kills elk just as dead as the 338 Lapua I'm assuming you intend to use...

Does it matter if the beard was grown before or during the hunt?

Jeremy

That gets a pass.

Just dont put any beard oil in it...at that point, it's a hipster beard and you might as well top it off with a manbun.

Just a simple ought-six for me. I don't own, nor do I desire to own any magnums!

And the beard is about 25 years old. 🤣

Ohhhh there's not a doubt in my mind it'll do just fine, I don't recall ever suggesting it wouldn't. Plenty of folk here have done it.

Definitely! Make sure your friend practices and he will be fine. And yall enjoy your hunt (and good luck)!
