*sigh......

This is honestly for a friend. Super pinky swear.
He's coming out to Wyoming with me in November for a cow elk hunt & he's wanting to bring his *hurp creed *horp cree *hooorp creedmore along.
He's not a gun guy or volume shooter & the price of premium ammo just made him question several of his life choices.
So I offered to befoul my bench & reload some stuff for him.

If y'all had to choose 1 elk bullet for the......ican'tevensayit....... what would you choose? My knee jerk thought would be either a 127gn TTSX or 140 Accubond.

I’d vote accubond or partition ,have had great results with accubond s in creedmore though .

honestly I think either of the bullets you mentioned would get it done for a cow elk. My daughter has slain some mighty beasts with the LRX in the creed, may use a 130 accubond for her cow elk hunt this year. No one ever, in the entire history of deciding to use partitions on critters, has made a bad choice. I see no reason why you could'nt dip the tip of an accubond in pink nail polish...

If he was a good shooter a 129 grain SST is drop dead lethal on clean vital hits. Since he doesn’t hunt or shoot often I’d go for a 140 partition to help him out on bad hits.

The meat and potatoes 6.5 bullet is the 129 horn interlock. You don't really need premiums @ 6.5 huuurp velocities. It's cheap enough and midway also has the as seconds right now. Its also factory loaded.

H4350 under a 127 LRX or 140 Accubonds. If he’s really frugal, 140 Sierra Game King. It accurate, and works really well at Creedmoor velocities.

Since he is a low volume shooter, it sounds as if shots will be relatively close range...300 yds and in.

Nothing wrong with 127 LRX, 120 TTSX, 140 AB, or 140 Partition.

I'd lean Partition.

Thanks all. He's actually a very avid hunter, but never concerned himself with the minutiae of ballistics. Gas station ammo has always filled his freezer with whitetail, but around here, 150yds is a hell of a poke.

He'll be coming with me to the range over the coming couple of months to get some instruction in shooting & ballistics out to 500yds, but I can't imagine for a second he'll chance a shot on game much beyond 200.

He's put in the order today for the 140 Partitions & I'll help him work up a good, accurate load.
