Male or Female?

Love these threads. I always learn something about bear identification.

I'm in the I don't know camp because I'd like to have a better look at the front legs. But I'd lean toward a chunky female. Beautiful coloring and the fur is in great condition.

This picture is from a bear on my property a couple years ago. Narrow ass compared to big front shoulders. He can play linebacker on my team. Definitely a boar. Bigger front legs too.

what would you say the top indicators are in order of importance or ease of recognition? I go in 2 weeks and been working on pics, but not doing great.

No doubt bears are hard to judge unless some monster shows. My son and I hunted Saskatchewan a few years back. I arrowed a nice 350 lb boar the first day. Thought he was big, he was. Two days later my son had bears all around him. Then one saunters in, stands up to mark a tree. He knew he was the one. One shot with with his 7mm wsm and he harvested an almost 500lb behemoth. Skull missed B&C by 1/8 inch. Look for wide small looking ears, crease in his noggin, bigger front legs. Also big boars kinda just waddle in.
