Make your Tikka awesome for $85 - Full Frame Outdoors Tikka Stock Kit

I got one of the early design models last summer and have run around 300 rounds through a 22 creed with it. I didn't get the riser, I already had one. I like the length of pull addition and I drilled into the bag rider and added a sling mount with no issues. The grip is thicker than the vg tikka, I'm still getting used to it.

I wish the grip had a small thumb shelf in it.

I also like the concept of cutting the stock and having a version that would raise the heel up more in inline with the bore.

Got mine in the mail today. Some initial impressions in no particular order:

  • The fit on the pieces is tight, like OEM tight. I was really impressed with how they "snapped" into place
  • I ordered the medium cheek riser version, and it give me basically the perfect cheek weld
  • The finish is a bit more textured than I would like. I could see it collecting a lot of dirt but time will tell
  • I didn't realize it from the photos, but probably should have, you have to remove the rear sling stud to use the bag rider. Not an issue for me because I use a Kifaru Gun Bearer rather than a sling, but worth keeping in mind if you use a sling
  • The grip is noticeably thicker than the Tikka vertical grip. I think I'm a fan, but need to see how it actually feels when shooting.
  • The extra LOP and change in recoil pad angle you get from the bag rider is really nice. I'm 6'4 and have long arms, so probably needed a bit extra LOP on my rifle anyway. I could see it being an issue for smaller shooters.
I probably won't be able get to the range for a few weeks, but I'm excited to see if I notice major differences over stock when shooting. Just based on my initial impressions, I think the kit was well worth the ~$90
Does this kit change how your gun fits in the gunbearer?

Any updates from those who ordered a cheek riser?
I think it’s a great add. I have the medium height cheek piece. Only dry fire at this point but it does exactly what I need it to. It confirms that I need low rings for my scope vs the mediums I have on hand. But rather than get the high cheek piece, I’ll go back to lows like I ran last year.

I don’t know if I will keep the stock recoil pad or switch for a limbsaver or backfire. It’s not the recoil itself that makes me dislike it, mostly the shape of it. I’ve also seen guys snag the KRG pad and use that as well.

Beyond opening up the barrel channel - this makes the factory stock a much better option with little effort to change out.

I have low UM tikka rings per UM Customer Service. Do you think the medium cheek piece will work best for me?

Hard to say on the cheek piece. It’s more how my face is structured, but if I personally had low rings and the low cheek piece I wouldn’t be aligned with a full cheek rest. I’d end up having to hold my head up slightly
