Made a mistake testing ammunition on a new rifle ??

I got a new rifle sighted in with some 129gr cup and core, then I wanted to test some mono just to see how they would do, I think I made a mistake with doing that, as now I think I have copper fowling
And I can’t get the rifle back to where it was before, didn’t touch the turrets. Should I try some copper solvent? Or just run the ammunition I originally used and see if they tighten it up?

The bullets have a copper jacket so I'm not sure how it would foul a barrel any differently than a mono. Keep in mind many barrels speed up within the first couple hundred rounds which would likely change zero.

How many rounds down the tube?

What kind of rifle?

What is the twist of the barrel?

Did anything loosen up on your rifle?

Normal bullet jackets are a different alloy, basically it is less sticky than copper because it is harder

I think he shot bullet A, then bullet B, then back to bullet A and it's different now.

did you check velocities? when you went back to the orig ammo was it the same velocity as the first time around? maybe a different batch? also your barrel should speed up a little in the beginning.

esp if it opened up, double and triple check your mounts, rings etc. put some witness marks on your scope etc to see if it's moving.

You had copper in the barrel after the 1st shot.
Clean the rifle, both powder solvent and copper solvent and start over.

It’s pretty common knowledge mixing cup/core and mono isn’t a good thing. Do what Wapitibob said and you’ll be fine.

I do it often. I am sure some setups it’s problematic but it’s certainly not an absolute.
