Did you end up making a decision? Would love to know what you picked and what tipped the scales.

Having bought from both, I prefer RBros. Both rifles shoot great, but my experience and the customer service from Travis is the difference maker.

Last year, having never purchased a rifle of that caliber and never handloaded before, Travis answered every "daily" email I sent him and got me set up and pointed me in the right direction. Aside from the customer service, the rifle he sent me is flawless.

Two shots confirming zero @400 when I got to WY last year from one of his 7RM Carbon Hunters

I have a 270 wby Mcwhorter that I got for a smoking deal used and it looked like it had been hardly shot.
I emailed Mcwhorter the serial number and they sent me the load data for the gun that they developed and I tested that load and it was true 1/2 moa or better.
every load I’ve tried in it is 1/2 moa.
This is current load 4 shots at 825 yards

If it matters, I am pretty sure Tim mcwhorter now works for flat creek precision (as of last week) I am pretty sure it was him that posted it on FB the other day. Scroll through his fb page and you see the last post he made about mcwhorter custom rifles was 1/23/21.

Wow. So did Rovig take over? Falling out between the two? I hadn’t heard this.

I’ve always worked with Allan directly on my builds so I can’t see much changing. Allan always seemed to at the helm

*Full Disclosure*
I've been shooting PRS/NRL stuff for Travis/R Bros for 5 years, but have been shooting his rifles for the last 7-8 years. I've had the luxury of shooting rifles built by many many smiths, but Travis and I have clicked and I know what to expect from him. I've asked to supply parts, but he has much preferred to use what "he knows" and is entirely understandable. If a pile of supplied parts don't shoot, he is the one that will be blamed, regardless of what or who is actually at fault.

What ultimately made R Bros my single source rifle builder, and confidence to recommend to anyone and everyone that asks is, Travis is a business man first, rifle builder second. If he gives a delivery date, IT WILL be done by then if not sooner. Emotions and feelings are non-existent in the business model, but providing a quality finished product that meets end user expectations is first and foremost.

Yes.. I bought Rbros. No regrets. Travis is great to deal with. Told me the load. Told me his advice. Never shot better.

Travis, you are correct. Tim and a few other guys own and operate Flat Creek Precision Rifles, still in Georgia. Tim hasn't owned McWhorter for years, he just built the guns. He wanted a new avenue and made the decision to start a new company. They are running their first guns this week. Tim's quality will be top notch and he wants to put a very strong emphasis on custom service and quality control.

I wish I had not searched for and found this thread. My friend has a couple of McWhorters in 6.5 Weatherby Mag and they are awesome. I’ve been daydreaming about a build by them, and now I have to spend some more time comparing Flat Creek and R Bros.

If anyone can help me in factors to consider, or steer me towards one or another, here’s some info that someone might find relevant. I primarily hunt white tails in the east and while I may hunt elk at some point, I have other rifles (2 wood Coopers - 25-06 and 30-06). I don’t hunt long range. But I love high quality, well-crafted gear, even when I don’t need it, and I see one day giving my collection to my son. TIA.

Unknown Munitions is now building custom rifles. Would any of you guys consider getting a rifle from them?

I don't think they're doing full custom builds. It's basically just a turn key 300 PRC. They don't offer up any other calibers other than that. I'd message them and ask some questions if you're really interested.
