Macho men with daughters

I’ve been sitting around, patiently waiting for a couple of weeks now on the birth of my DAUGHTER! I’m still trying to wrap my head around that. Like most men, I thought my whole life I was going to have a son if I did have kids at all.

I’ve never changed a diaper! My one hunting buddy told me I was going to do great at it and said “you’ve dressed a lot of animals, it’s the same thing, just don’t get any poop where it doesn’t belong.”

To be honest, I’ve always wanted kids. Just wasn’t really happening. I commercial fish for a living, so I’m often gone for half the year. Half of the rest of the half, I was always gone hunting or out on an adventure. This year I’ve canceled my sheep hunt and caribou hunt. Super super weird. But my taxidermist ensured me, raising a daughter is better then any sheep hunt!

Let’s hear it! I’m curious to hear y’all’s advice. What’s it like raising a little female version of yourself?

I have 3 daughters!! And it's been an amazing 15 year ride so far. But now I want it to slow down....

My daughter is 3, best thing in the world. She does everything with me. No piece of advice on the internet can prepare you for what is about to happen. Just enjoy it.

^These guys have it right. Best thing in the world. The world is going to take on a new intensity for you. All the "tough stuff" you've done will pale in comparison--raising a daughter will take everything you've got but give back more.

I have 2 daughters. They’re both amazing in their own way. One hunts, one doesn’t and I wouldn’t change a thing about either of them.

I hope this doesn’t get me in trouble so feel free to delete, but when my first daughter was born almost 14 years ago, a good buddy said to me…

“With a son you only have to worry about one ‘thing’, but with a daughter you have to worry about all the ‘things’!”

Im not huge on parenting books. However- this one is awesome for new borns and understanding what they need. If you can learn to use the 5 S’s, you will be very happy. And your baby momma will be happy and rested as well.

The way you raise your daughter and treat her is the type of man she'll crave and look for when she gets older. That might hit hard for some guys, and while there's a few exceptions to the rules, it has a very high percentage of working out that way. Spoiling her and treating her like a princess isn't the way, but if she doesn't want to hunt and fish, you better be respectful and meet her in the middle with things she does like.

I have 2 daughters my 3rd is coming in another month, it’s awesome, they are amazing. There is was a lot of build up I think in having a boy, but man I’m not upset that I was blessed with daughters, 0 pressure on them to be football players, hunters, anglers, ect, my 3 year old is having fun with me and will likely come out a little while elk hunting this fall, not sure if I’m a macho man, but was an Ranger tabbed infantry dude, now I’m a fireman, but I love my girls they are sweet!

Best thing in the world. I wouldn't trade my girls for anything. The man you are now will die the day she's born. Don't worry about that too much, you'll never wish to go back.

Never leave an opening for another man to treat her with more kindness, patience, respect, and grace than you do.

I asked an old sage in my life for parenting advice once. He said; “date your daughters. If you date your daughters they’ll never settle for a man of lesser character than yours, and if you’re not okay with that you’ve got other issues.”
And “Go on adventures with your sons, if you want influence in your son’s lives once they are out of your house you need a friendship to fall back on.”
“In other words men connect side by side over shared experiences, and women connect face to face over a coffee table.”

I’m only 11 years into this parenting thing, but I think he was right.

The plan was for 2 kids close together and snip and that's what we did after being blessed with two daughters. Lots of great things about having sweet little girls!

Here's a bit i often think of when hanging out with friends and their boys:

Make sure she see's you treating her mother the way you hope a man will treat her some day.

I raised three girls. They are awesome. Le theme be who they’ll be. Love them. Set the example of how they should be treated and loved.

Show her what the man you want to her find one day looks like. Love and respect her mother, continue to date her mother, love your in-laws. Take care of yourself physically, emotionally, spiritually, and financially. Everything else will fall right into place.

My daughter is the coolest person in this world. She loves hanging with me and I love hanging with her.

Dad of three girls here. Biggest pieces of advice are:

• Parenting is one of the few things in life where you’ll be graded on effort. Kids will look back caring more that you tried than that you succeeded.
• Kids spell love T-I-M-E

Got 3 of them. 21,24 and 25. The first 13 years are fun, the next 5 are....interesting. Then back to fun again. Wouldn't change a thing about it.

Girls are awesome I have 2 out of 3, my 2 year old daughter is extremely strong willed and independent she runs the house and the other two.

Just remember you’re raising good adults not kids. Give them confidence in everything they do, raise them outside, and your good to go, because daughters always take care of there fathers in later years
