Luxe Octopeak Vs SO Cimarron

I plan on buying a tipi tent next year for a couple hunts I have planned. I’m looking at tipis that fit 2 guys over 6’ tall, gear, and a stove comfortably.

I slept in a cimarron once in September with 3 guys and gear, no stove. It was tight for sure.
Looking at the specs though, the Luxe Octopeak is pretty close to the Cimarron. Does the Luxe have more room or is it a wash?

Price is a factor as I’ll only use this set up for a week or two a year. Can’t justify dropping $1k on this one. Price of the SO is $425, and the Luxe comes in at $350 with no skirt, both with stove jacks. So pretty similar, especially if I manage to snag a used one.

Anybody have experience using both as a 2 man shelter with stove? Thanks.

Seek outside and Kifaru have the best fabric in the business. The luxe fabric is garbage. Hence why they can sell their shelters for much less. Go with SO or Kifaru.

What makes the fabric garbage?

I think once it starts to rip it tends to keep going. I think there's been a couple of reports of it on here seems like. May want to see if anything pulls up in the search function.

I'm going to double down on what others have said. I have a SO Redcliff (Cimmarons big brother) and an Eolus. There fabric and stitching is top notch. I dont know at this point if I'd go with anything else but SO or Kifaru especially for late season hunts where you NEED your gear to perform. I have zero experience with Luxe though.

He will be paying for much less quality. Pack, boots and shelter shouldn’t be areas to be cheap on. Save up for a better shelter. Luxe is not even in the same league.

I’m friends with Clark, and he’s just giving me crap. He owns a cimarron and told me earlier to stick with SO, but I decided to question his logic since he’s usually off his rocker.

He is an enemy! A predator on the landscape that I want gone! We do get together for the occasional libation though.

Well, then. He needs an ammo can stove with a tyvek tarp and a 60 degree bag. Should be set!

Check out the search function. It’s cheap material.

Ive searched quite a bit on it and ive never seen anyone have any problems ? Are they recent ? This was 3-4 months ago when I was kicking around buying one. @LuxeHikingGear maybe you have something to comment on your fabric ???

Have you had it in any wind or terrible rain? All I’m saying is luxe can’t hold a candle to these premium shelters. It’s not ripstop.

Their Megahorn does not use rip stop fabrics. The rest of them do. Yes the quality is not SO, But they do fill a niche. Not everyone wants to spend that much on shelters. I've owned both, for different reasons. Now, I don't think I would use anything but SO.
