Lurking for a new Tikka stock

Hi everyone, first post, long time lurker here and on all similar forums. I've never made an account because I am no social butterfly, but I use these websites as a search engine to gather information from knowledgeable members. This includes bullet selection, cartridge comparison, rifle pros and cons, and so on. I primarily made this account to access the classifieds for a stock that is of interest to me, but as you all know there is a post and time requirement for good reason.

So I'd like to use this opportunity to see what everyone stock of choice is for a mid-weight hunting rig. This one for me will be going on a tikka veil wideland 6.5 prc. My current plan is an AG alpine hunter, but I'm looking for other options as well including the pure precision altitude, and stockys vg. No chassis (too modern), no rokstock (too ugly) despite making sense ergonomically and recoil wise.

Thanks for any and all input, pictures of rifles always appreciated

The Rokstok is my stock of choice, can be a bit hard to get though.

In fairness, I have only used factory and home modified stocks to compare it it.

I can visualize the benefits of the design in recoil management, it's just hard to get over the aesthetics for me. It just looks upside down. Maybe I'll come around

I thought it was ugly as sin at first, but now I rather like how it looks.

Just got the rokstock and I like it. It does take some getting used to the looks. I do recommend the spacer kit for LOP though. Definitely seems a little short to me.

After shooting the rokstock, its legit they designed it to function the better than any other stock ive shot, i now have 3 of them😅. Function over appearance for me, rather kill deer/elk than have a cool looking stock

Function over appearance for sure. But I'll take a cut in a little function over a lot of appearance in some cases haha. How much extra recoil control and or other advantages do you think the rokstock has over other tall comb LR hunting stocks like the alpine hunter? Does it just turn a 308 into a 7-08 recoil control wise? I know it's probably hard to quantify but I have never been behind either stock so I'm just trying to get an idea.

Lots of good replies here for quality stocks that I'm sure are comfortable and work well for y'all. The trouble is I'm hard headed and am set on a carbon fiber stock with a high cheek weld and a vertical grip that has a semi traditional look.

With a rokstock are you able to clean your barrel without removing the action from the stock? Seems like the high heel might get in the way of the rod

You can clean with a normal rod, i did have a little contact with the stock rubbing off a little cerakote.

Welcome. I’ve been eyeballing this in this classifieds but it’s not in the cards for me this year.

Yeah that's the one I was thinking of, but being a new account as of today I can't do anything about it for a week. So in the mean time just picking people's brains.

Seems like the rokstock is getting all the praise over here. I'm sure for good reason, but the Alpine Hunter checks the boxes for me

Have you seen the McMillan Mountain Tracker LR? It’s somewhere between the AG Alpine Hunter and the Rokstock in design. Negative comb, flat toe line and flat forend. I’ve only heard good things from guys that own it.

I like the Stockys VG or the KRG Bravo.

I'm big on function over looks also, but like others can't get over the looks of the Rokstok....at least yet.
