If done properly are lunges hard on knees? I had a orthpedic dr. tell me once they were. After an acl surgery he said don't do them. Thnaks

Forward lunges can be.
I've been programming reverse lunges for years without issue.
My only warning is make sure you're kneeling back onto a pad of some kind
