Luna 6 or Cimarron or......

I have the luna 6. Used it one night in CO with the stove. Didn't have a lot of areas we hunted that we needed to spike out. We had three guys, a stove and wood in it with plenty of room to spare. For two it would be perfect.

He will make it any way you want it. I added perimeter netting and door netting to mine but left the stove jack in the front. You can also get a nest for it. The other side of the front also can be tied up so the entire front can be open.

Didn't have it in any crazy weather but it is comfortable. We lifted a corner to run the stove. It got HOT. Stove is a lite outdoors 18" standard diameter.

Only thing I don't like is that the sides pinch in just a bit(you can see it in the pic), so you can't stake out the corners super tight. However with the guy lines it opened that space back up.

Sorry the only pics I have on this PC are in the back yard. I have some from CO that I can download if you want scenic pics.

sodaksooner - I'm looking at the 18" lite outdoors stove as well. Sounds like it gives off enough heat for that size shelter. Appreciate the pictures and info!!

A small stove will be fine. The trick, with a longer stove like 18", is you can put longer pieces of wood in which reduces the amount of cutting you have to do per load of wood for the stove. My stove is 12" (I think) and it can be more of a hassle to get sticks that short. But, overall it isn't that big of a deal. Just depends on where you will be and the size of wood available. Snapping 1-2" sticks isn't bad but if you are splitting larger logs, it would be easier to leave them longer.

He changed his door design a bit since i got mine. I am having him make me a front plate with the new door. allows for bigger pcs of wood to go in.

What size stove are you guys running? Debating between a medium or large.

I run the sxl. Fairly light with good burn time. Works well for me splitting the weight of the stove/Cimmaron with a hunting partner.

Looks like a great set up what is best stove , from what I read 18 is better can put longer / bigger wood ? Is the square better ? What is the sxl ?

Enjoyed seeing the pics and reading the discussion here so I went ahead and bought the Cimarron/stove package.

For what you are describing I think the cimarron is the best but you will be much happier with the sawtooth when that day comes.

Why would you say this??

I have both and use the Cimarron much more than my sawtooth. Just curious what led you to this conclusion?

Aside from super windy weather, most of the time for just two people the Cimarron is my preferred shelter.

For what he is describing - 2 guys with gear and stove I think the extra room of the Sawtooth plus the ability to actually stand up is worth the extra weight and bulk especially on later hunts. While the Cimmaron is slightly bigger due to the shape and and the second door would be very helpful -the Oware 9x9 I have been using is very similar and once I add the stove it gets pretty tight for 2 guys, wood and gear. Don't get me wrong, the design and features of the Cimarron fix all the complaints I have with that style of tents and if I was buying a pyramid shelter or if the Oware ever dies it will be replaced with the Cimarron.

After using a buddy's sawtooth for a couple trips I think its they way to go when using the stove. Hell I am even tempted to trade my 8man for for a sawtooth since I think it would get more use.

Besides most of us are not hunting with our significant other so a little extra room never hurts. Hehe

Same here.. Ordered the stove yesterday and getting the Cimarron after Xmas. Just have to decide on the color.

Az bow nice to see gear being put through the paces, what size stove did you go with? Is it enough? Thinking about this same setup. Thanks

Its the medium. It worked well enough that I doubt I will upgrade any time soon, but I could see the large being better suited for longer burns during the night when you're trying to catch some sleep. That being said, I still had a very comfortable time with the medium with temps in the upper 20's.

Does anybody here have a cimarron tent with a lite outdoors cylinder stove? I am looking at purchasing this combo and was curious as to how long of a stove pipe to order? Pictures would be nice too to see what this might look like! Thanks!
