I am going to be ordering one of these two shoes upgrading from a pair of Keen Targhee II. I have no where to try them on and I have the issue of wearing 12EE normally. I have had in the Keens in both 12 wide and 13 medium and they both fit me well. The wide slightly better. The Salomons don't come in a wide. How is the toe box on these shoes? I often have to go up the full size to 13.

I am leaning towards the salomons based upon everything I have read but will order the Lowa Renegades if the consensus is that the Salomons fit would be an issue.

Thanks in advance!

I have had both, the toe box in the Solomon’s feels wide for my wide feet but not to much room there was slop. I have had the renegades for 3 years and they are still waterproof and going strong. The Solomon’s on the other hand kept the waterproofing for about 6 months and then my feet where always wet so I returned them. I tried them based off reviews and was disappointed when they started leaking. Living in the PNW it is wet all the time from rain to due on the grass and vegetation so the Solomon’s where no good to me once they started leaking. Off my experience I would recommend the renegades since they are still waterproof and have lasted 6 times longer than the Solomon’s did for me. The renegades felt better on my feet and there felt like there was no break in vs the Solomon’s but the Solomon’s felt stiffer so I was expecting that.

Now I use the Crispi Nevada’s mainly but switch to the renegades in the summer for day hikes. The Nevada’s are stiffer than both options but the break in was equivalent to the renegades in my experience.

Both pairs I had where 10.5 and felt like the Solomon’s where wide enough for my feet. If your hunting where it is mainly dry then the Solomon’s are a good choice. Order from a place that you can return them so you can get some miles on them and decide. I have had boots that felt great in the store and killed my feet in the first 100 miles so I took them back. I know people will say not to shop at REI but they have the 1 year no questions asked return policy so I use them then if I find the boots cheaper online I return the pair to REI and buy the cheaper pair, at least that’s what I did with my renegades.

With your boots did you order the same size as what you normally wear for your everyday shoes?

Yeah I ordered the same size as always, normally wear Georgia Romeo’s everyday for work.

I don't know if this would be of any help but I wore the 4d's and thought they had good toe room and I'm now trying the new Vasgue Saga. It has equal toe room and comes in a wide.
As of right now I prefer the Saga, but it's too early to commit to an opinion.
