Hey guys, got these boots on sale and have given them at least 50 km in the last month. No matter what I do I can't stop the heel slip. Trained tonight with 65 pounds and did 7 km. heels are tore up pretty good.
So do I give up on them and try something else? All advice is welcomed. Thanks rob.

I would definitely try something else.
I have limited time each year to hit the mountains for hunting and I would not risk being stuck in camp with injured feet just because I didn't change boots that I knew were not working for me in June.
There has to be a boot that will work for your feet. Just because Tibets are popular (I've worn them for years) doesn't mean they are for you.

I've tried three different pairs of Lowas now , including the Tibets and none worked for me. I wore some Hanwags last year that didn't hurt me but don't fit quite right either. I'm forking over the cash and trying the custom fit boot deal from Lathrop and Sons . Going to order next week so I'll let you know how it goes. After buying and either returning the ones I knew right away wouldn't work and selling the others it would have been cheaper to start with the custom fit . I sure hope it's the silver bullet for my boot troubles.

Get something else. Boots are IMO the most personal piece of gear you will buy. Just because they were 300 bucks or 10 guys recommended them to you doesn't mean chit to you. I would second Shrek and give Lathrop a call. They are great to deal with and know there stuff!

Mike, I never tried a liner. Never heard of a sock liner.
I am pretty sure I have the boots sold. I have to bring them down to Calgary on Monday. The 50 km is all on dirt trails and thru the bush. They are in good shape.
What are your recommendations on these sick liners? Ordered hanwag Alaska gtx's may need liners for those if they don't work.
Thanks for any info, rob

Not every boot will fit every person and it may just be that they do not work for you.

Having said that, have you tried different thicknesses of insoles? I have used the Tibets for years and have come to the conclusion that I need to have my heel elevated slightly versus the stock insoles to eliminate heel slip, so I use a thicker insole (old style Lathrop & Sons). You may be in the same boat, and I would play with that a bit before I sold the boots.

I've used Helly Hanson liners in the past but now use Ice Breaker merino wool liners. What I like about using liners is that if there is any foot slippage it takes place between the liner and your sock reducing friction on your foot which in turn reduces hot spots and blisters. Also they are thin and light, I just pack extra liners not socks. They dry quickly after rinsing them out in the evenings.

Mike, can you put up a link for the liner socks you are using? All the ones I find are merino blend and don't specify a liner sock. Thanks, rob

I am way for work this week and the boots should be here on Tuesday. Will go for a hike and report back.
I did try the green super feet and it did not help the heel issue. Thanks guys for all the info. Keep it together, rob

if you are having heel slip on the lowas then the han wags might work for you as I found the han wags a little narrow and lowas perfect for me. also, consider asolo.
