Bought lowa evo hunter February of this year have about ten 5 mile conditioning hikes on them and the rand is starting to delaminate at the front of toe box. Pretty disappointing. This is my second pair, the last ones are still going strong after 3+ years and many miles just the soles are almost shot. Figured I’d pick up a new pair for this years hunt. Anyone else experiencing this lately? I did see a few older posts about this from a few years back.

Contact Lowa customer service and they will make it right. I had a pair of Tibet’s where the Rand was separating and they inspected them and sent me a new pair.

Annoying for sure. You'd think a $500 pair of boots would buy you some good glue. I too picked up a pair of Tibet Hi's about a month ago. I'm wearing them to work to "wear them in". So far so good but a little concerned about Lowa's ability to provide functional waterproofness in sustained wet conditions. Seems to be a ongoing and massive complaint about their high end boots. They do seem to fit well though.

Happen to me on two pairs. When it happened to the third I decided I would just fix it with 3m marine adhesive.
It's held up very well.

Same here. I had two pairs of Tibets do it back to back. Both of those pairs went back to REI.

Third pair I decided to add a bead of freesole at the top of the rand where it meets the leather. About 1/8” all around. It has worked great so far.

I posted a few pics on a previous thread.

I always get my Lowa's at Baker's Boots in Eugene OR, (they have a website, good boot knowledge) I have had 3 pairs of Tibets do that, Lowa replaced the first 2 pr (takes a while to get them back) on the third the guys at Bakers and I collaborated and tested some adhesives to DIY and several well known brands have worked just fine, no further problem - My first pr of Tibets I put through absolute hell with no treating whatsoever (stupid, I realized) and they went to nearly worn out with nary a damp leak at all, good testimony FWW

Which adhesives did you find that worked well?

I KNEW I was gonna get asked that ! I'll have to get into my boot box and see in a bit - I know that "shoe goo" has worked really well for me for a long time though - I'll get back on the Baker answer though
Yea, I use the Shoe Goo also. It is definitely permanent, so don't get it where you don't want it.

As of now I’m in the “waiting” phase after submitting an official warranty claim. Problem is I’m about 15 weeks out from a 12 day backpack hunt. I made it known to them. Wondering if I should start looking for a new pair of boots or just say screw it and use the 3m marine adhesive and fix these. I don’t think my older pair has enough life left on the sole to get through the hunt.

I know that when we pay "high dollar" for a product the mindset is that it "SHOULD" be perfect but in life that is often just not the case - As said earlier, we used Shoe Goo on ours and it worked perfectly, Shoe Goo has been around for literally decades and I've used in on running shoes and Danner boots many times (even other things unrelated to boots) - It is simple, fast, effective and other than those pesky rands, Lowa boots, for me anyway, have been outstanding footwear so why send them back and then stress about the time frame ? Enough feedback from members of my idea and other products which seem to work equally well so just do it ……. Oh wait, you already sent them back, BUGGERS !!

I do agree with most of your thoughts.

My lowa Tibet experience was...

1st pair purchased in 2005 and used them until 2011. 6 solid falls and summers. Impressive for sure. I still have them! Rand had a few rips and tears but never delaminated.

Second and third pairs lasted one full season each before rand fully delaminated. Both went back for replacement. What I noticed is that the top section was glued down but not much else. Definitely a change in mfg process.

Fourth pair I added the aftermarket prep and they worked flawlessly last fall with no rand separation.

So if you want the new version of Tibet’s to last I highly recommend the extra glue.

I still have them, I only submitted the official online warranty claim form with
Pics. Being that the delamination has not progressed I think I’m just going to fix it myself and move on.

Just received an email from lowa. Two choices, mail in for inspection and repair or fix myself, they recommend shoe goo or something similar.

Shoo Goo it, and save the tube for any further future repairs. Follow the instructions, which include putting some Vaseline on the threads of the tube before you screw the cap back on. That way you will be able to use it in the future.
