Love Thy Neighbor

I'm not talking about relativism. If God told YOU that wearing shoes was sin, that command and revelation would be for you.

I'm not taking about blatant sin being relative. But let's take this home a bit. Let's pretend you struggle with making an idol out of hunting. It would be sin for you to continue to hunt. Correct? Would it be sin for me hunt?
Making an idol of anything and putting that before God is sin. In your example, hunting isn't the sin, it's the act of putting it before God. That would be sin for anyone.

Paul talks about things relative to this in Romans chapter 14.

Is there a certain irony that this thread about loving your neighbor began with a quote from a Mormon leader, and then find out today that Kirk's killer was raised Mormon?
The answer is no.
How an individual behaves is up to that one person's choosing and is not a reflection on the church he was raised in any more than his skin color, hair color, race, ethnicity, etc. are relevant. Which means how we love (or not) our neighbors is also centered on how we individually choose to behave, again regardless of race, religion, etc. Sure, as an external influence religious values often translate into behavior, but external influences are never an absolute determinant. Choices are ever individual for each of us.
