Not something I typically do but on most sites....but this site seems so much different than just about all the others I have seen, so here goes.
My name is Greg and I am addicted. Addicted to just about anything to do with bow hunting and pack hunts. Something about it that just makes things in my world right. I have done several for different things. My first was Utah for ptarmigan, and I loved that enough to do it 3 more times. Last year was Wyoming Antelope and BC Mountain goat. Now I just can't seem to get enough. Unfortunately, living in Indiana doesn't allow me to do it near as much as I would prefer. Getting serious about Alaska Caribou and Kodiak Island Sitka Blacktail in the very near future.

Thanks all. BC goat hunt was my first guided hunt I had ever done. I learned a lot! Mostly about what to look for next time I do guided. I would love to hunt goats again but without a guide....that won't happen anytime soon. I am strictly a bow guy. Next time I know to go with someone that knows bow hunters. Lesson learned.

As far as bagging a goat, yes and no. I did shoot a nice billy. Unfortunately it was uncoverable. I also got a chance to put a stalk on a mountain grizzly. Couldn't close closer than 60 yds. Awesome experience though.

Outfitter was disappointing. But an experience that I won't ever forget.

Welcome to the first hunter I know of who killed a ptarmigan with a bow!
Glad to have you on, post up your hunts. We'd love to see!

Welcome, this is great site. Sorry to hear about your goat hunt. Sounds like you have some cool bow hunts under your belt. I never even knew that were ptarmigan in Utah I'll have to look into shooting one with my bow.

Have to set the record straight on this one....I did the ptarmigan hunt with dogs and a shotgun. Love taking my GSP's out as much as I love bow hunting big game.
so no bow shot ptarmigan...least not yet.

Utah is one of the few places in the lower 48 with ptarmigan. Colorado also has some good spots. In utah, painter basin near kings peak holds the highest concentration or birds. It was an amazing trip and one of my first true backcountry trips. Amazing scenery and a wonderful place to be with the pups.

welcome, missed a ptarmigan last elk season .I always have a judo in the quiver. I agree with you, this is the best site. your realy gonna like it here.
