What would you do if your 66” moose rack came up missing between the transporter picking it up in the field and making it back home? Clear instructions were written on each meat bag ,cape and horns with name, address and email. The horns and cape were wrapped prior to us coming out of the field and supposedly shipped towards home. They shipped the cape to the wrong state and I had to have AK Cargo ship the cape back to Seattle then to our airport but the horns were not with it. The transporter can not provide any documentation they shipped the horns. They also shipped 2 other hunters in our group meat and horns to the wrong state so they drove a 10 hr round trip to go get it.

That’s terrible news. It seems that large antlers are a bit of a target for thieves. Hopefully yours is just temporarily misplaced. It sounds like the person shipping to you is a bit disorganized.

I’ve gotta throw in a quick plug for Nick at AK Trophy Expediters. He handled pickup and shipping for me in Anchorage last year. He was great to work with the value of his service far outweighed the cost. Those kind of logistics can be a problem when far from home.

That's brutal. Ultimately I'd have to assume there are way-bills for all the items shipped and in theory there has to be named recipient. At least there was when I did it. Forget the transporter paperwork, Airline or Cargo company should have records of who took possession. Also, I'd hold the transporter fully responsible. Get together with the other clients that had mishaps and flood social media with your experience. That can be a strong tool as most of Alaska biz is word of mouth and reputation. See above with AK Trophy Expeditors. I also used Nick and got everything as planned.

Man I hope you find it.

When fedex lost my ram out of Mexico they gave me the run around for several days. I finally told fedex that this was a CITES animal and I would have to get FWS law enforcement involved so he probably needed to send me to his supervisor. I fed him the same BS and 45 minutes later i had two different people from fedex calling me telling me they found it in a container in NC.

Man the whole Alaska freight experience is a train wreck right now. Follow up on air bill numbers, stay after it. Get supervisors, hope for a woman. Seriously, they are better at it and have some empathy. I think they are in Phoenix. Don’t accept no for an answer.

One weird thing going on is payment…they won’t take cards over the phone at the terminals, and won’t release to another carrier without payment. We urge people to send all freight with them now prepaid.

Stick with it daily. I had UPS lose a shotgun with no trace. Finally got some top officials involved and found it 1500 miles in a different state from intended location. Took 31 days.

I feel your pain. At least you have been able to talk to someone at AK air. My moose antlers were shipped priority from AK to msp. Didnt need to be but that's what check in person did cod. I got notification to pick them up got their $1027. Guy said I've never seen one that expensive. Transporter said file a complaint with AK air cargo. I did emailed twice. No response at all.Took antlers to a local guy with beetles to do a euro. 6 days later he calls me said his shop burned to the ground. Mount is nearly 100% loss and his insurance doesn't cover anything. I HOPE ypur results are better. Best of luck!!

That is terrible. I was sent a pic of someone else’s horns with my name written on the shrink wrap with a Sharpie. They were wrapped totally differently than mine.

I had a major meat issue this year with the transporter and the processor.
what i have came accross over the years is, no one in alaska will really care to much about it.
Good luck and i hope it works for you.

Take an angle like this, if you can, OP.
